| Does it matter to you if over three quarter's of a million of us were arrested for possession of marijuana and jailed last year? Do you care, or just glad it wasn't you? There are possession cases listed in the Municipal court news that say so-and-so, possession of marijuana, costs only, no fine. That's here in Ohio. I know it's worse in other places, and we see articles all the time about the growers going down. Do we really care anymore, or are we becoming complacent. "Oh well, we say, it's just a fine now. No big deal." But does it matter if we win the whole fight? Sure, decrim. is great, and I applaud every stride we take. Are we getting complacent tho? Are we saying OK, it's just a fine now, it's not even as serious as beer, isn't that enough? Not for me. I want it legal. I want to be able to go to a store and buy as much as I want. Hell, I want a semi backed up to my door and every other door in this country of every citizen that is willing to get a job and fulfill the American dream and smoke his herb in a peaceful manner. That's what I want. It does matter to me. Some Where In Ded Land...........

| I'm content with legalization being on the ballot, if the vote is majority against then so be it. As long as weed has been illegal it has been so because the feds say it is. I would have a lot less problem with the voters deciding it should remain illegal, as long as the choice is there. As far as whether it matters... I think it does. Even those americans who don't smoke will enjoy far less crime and probably a nice tax cut here and there. |

In ancient Greece, democracy had a slightly different meaning, and very negative meaning. It was the tyranny of the minority over the majority. And sadly thats what it is now... homosexuals, marijuana smokers, the government is basically using us to show the majority that they are still "in control" and maintaining their morals and all kinds of bs like that. The people are so happy to believe the government hasn't gone entirely to the dogs, they eat it all right up. I am currently a political science major, and on my way to law school. You had better believe that the minute I officially become i lawyer I will sign up to be on the norml legal committee. ![]()

| I would like to see marijuana legalized (obviously) for one major reason : keep our innocent asses out of trouble. I don't think any of us are bad people. Are we doomed to swim in the depths of Hades simply because we smoke pot? I doubt it... I tend not to be too liberal with my beliefs, but I'm under the opinion that the US government bans pot is because they love control. How many alcohol accidents are there compared to marijuana accidents? I'm too lazy to look it up, but I bet more people die from alcohol related accidents than cannabis. There's my two cents. Keep toking. Maybe we'll be able to smoke in public some day, standing next to the boozers and the nicotine junkies....*sigh* ![]()

Yes I do...and HELL yes I'm glad it wasn't me. I've been smoking for over a decade and, odds are, my time may be coming. Quote:

People need to: 1. Speak out to anyone they can get to listen. 2. Write to their state and federal representatives. 3. Write to newspapers and magazines - letters to the editor, op-ed pieces, replies to anti-marijuana editorials and news stories. 4. Join pro-legalization organizations - the longer their membership lists the more influence their lobbyists will have. 5. Contribute your time and money to these organizations.
