| Don't you know how Canadian politics work. First they promise to change the problem within 6 years then after awhile everyone forgets and they move on without any trouble. In Canada politicians don't lie, they stall.

It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality, was tacitly denied by their philosophy. The heresy of heresies was common sense. And what was terrifying was not that they would kill you for thinking otherwise, but that they might be right. For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable what then?" |

| Legislation to be introduced this summer, voted on in the fall. That's from a relatively reliable source, so hopefully this'll work out in a good way. Take it as you will, this is just scuttlebutt from an individual who has been correct in the past. The theory is that if they introduce it quick, it won't matter whether it pisses off the Americans or not, they're already pissed. Chretien is looking for legacies in a bad way, he wants people to remember him, dammit, and this is one of the ways. The reason it's been delayed is pretty damn obvious in my opinion, and valid too. There's been a slight war over the past few months, and that's definitely more important than legalizing pot. Every party more or less agrees with it, it's just the details of the legislation that needs to be hashed out. Hell, even the Alliance said that something needs to be done. If they don't, the courts will beat them to it, and governments don't like that, they like to pretend they're in charge after all... ![]()

| i don't normally believe things like this, but i'm stoned right now and in a believing mood, and this just made my day, just imagine going to summer and being able to smoke pot with no worries in the slightest
