| What kind of changes in price do you think we will see once weed is decriminalized in Canada? I was thinking about two or three bucks less, so about $8/gram, maybe even $5/gram, maybe no change, who knows. |

| Most likely no difference, as DEALING will still usually get your ass thrown into jail; decrim will only effect POSSESSION. When legalization happens, prices will drop however.

| Legalization will bring us back into the 70's era of prices. The reasons are blatantly obvious.

| well if people can grow it, then the price should obviously drop because there will be a HUGE rise in grow ops..and with more product, more competition, lower price

Grow-ops, like the ones we commonly know, will not be decriminalized. What will be is the closet grow you have in your basement, meant entirely for personal use. In my opinion, the people who would grow small amounts in their closet do so already, they won't get caught if they aren't loud about it. The average pot smoker isn't going to go through the hassle of raising a plant from a seed, there's quite a bit of work invovled. He's going to want to buy it from somebody, and the latter will still be taking a risk by providing it. The only plausible solution to this is to follow the Danish (? or Dutch, I forget) route and allow sale and consumption in "cafes" and such. It would technically be dealing, but in small quantities, basically taking a lot of the criminal aspects out of it. | |

| If it becomes legal would you even have to grow your plant in your closet? couldnt marijuana become a houseplant? If it was legalized id get a plant just for a houseplant cuz for some reason i like how the plant looks... |

| I don't think the prices will change. Look at Amsterdam.. weed is pretty much legal there, but it's also a lot more expensive than here.. now granted it's REALLY good potency, but none the less you aren't going to find an ounce for $50

| I think it depends on 'how' legal it becomes. If it's legalized but with very tight restrictions on who can grow, then you choke the supply lines and therefore little changes price-wise. The varying opinions in this thread are reflective of the author's thoughts on the extent of the legality. Er, in other words, if you say it's just as legal to grow cannabis as it is to grow a fern, then price drops dramatically. If you say there are major restrictions on growing it, then price drops very little, if at all. |
