Arizona has three major universities, Nothern Arizona University, Arizona State University (I have heard it's the largest university in the world right now) and Arizona University. With such an abundance of youth in a college setting do you think it would be possible to pull an all out voter intiative to almost totally decriminalize it. Just wondering on people veiws, I know there was some intiative a couple years back but i never heard much about it if you know i would love to hear rom ya'll.

| Let's see... How big is the AZ electorate compared to the student population of these three universities? How many of these students would actually mobilize to work on the initiative? I can't answer either of these questions, but the possibilities don't seem all that great. To date, marijuana user haven't been very active in trying to get it legalized/decriminalized. More than 99% of them haven't bothered to join a pro-legalization organization. Students seem to be much more interested in partying and passing their classes.

Actually, in the 1990s in Arizona we twice voted to allow medical marijuana but the measure has resulted in no action by the legislature. They say conflict with federal law keeps them from enabling the will of the people. Still, the herb is readily available and relatively cheap..$60-70/oz., for decent Mexican bud.

ya it would be possible but you would need a very large portion of the all 3 schools and some outside votes to if you could oganize this than it would be possible but organizing something on that scale would take a probably 2-3 years of constantly advertising and showing that the propaganda we are usualy fed by the DEA is wrong it is very possible to do it but you would need alot of time and money to do it not something you could do by yourself so if you are truely serious about it then get your friends to help out and have them get their friends to help out and so on it could happen but it would be hard

I think the key for this to work if were ever implemeted would be a wide spread effort to target members of the general public in places were marijuana smokers gather: Jam band venues, music festivals, head shops, performing arts venues. but you are right it would take massive moblization and planning but with the size of ASU i think its certainly not out of the question

passing a bill on cannabis in Arizona would not be altogether that hard but you would also need support from non smokers so if it were to be done then you would need an initiative that put a standard age limit like 21 or 18 and also you would have to include indusrial hemp usage because hemp is a huge cash crop and would grow exceptionaly good in AZ with all the sun you get there is a great initiative that could show up on the California ballot that would be an excellent example for you it is under the legalization section under marijuana will be LEGAL in 2008 or Vote 2008 marijuana legalization good luck if you ever decide to try and get this on the AZ ballot
