First let me say how good it is to be back in among the community.

I recently sent lte's to several papers where I guest columned, subject: The Drug War, detailing significant changes in the last two years.
I thought perhaps it might be a good thing to see how far we have come.
Due to sites like this one, Mr. Cowans marijuananews and cannabis Culture much has happened.
The first and most glaring change is that debate is opened up all across the globe, even and especially in America.
More and more journalists, the same fellows who were cowed into silence if not outright propaganda propagation are beginning to do what they were trained to do.
Ask tough questions.
Also, the stigma that has been purposely attached to marijuana is fading, in the U.K. Politicians have publicly admitted to having used marijuana, also I believe, in canada and Australia.
Belgium and Switzerland both have made definite steps toward decrim or legalization.
Germany may well follow.
Another important aspect is the stress on treatment for hard drug addicts.
I realize this is not marijuana treatment, but as long as the fellows with the guns determine weed and heroin to be the same thing, it is relevant.
With the slow treturn to sanity, personal rights issues are surfacing, the criminal injustice of freedom abuse brought about by the drug war is coming more and more to light.
It had to, it started affecting the rich.
Of course, there have been some negative changes.
As we win more ground, the Prohibitionists get meaner.
Censorship attempts, based upon sites like this one, and aimed at them, abound in the home of the free.
False or incompetent studies are trumpeted and Politicians are taking a hard line.
This is not as negative as it sounds however, most people are aware the folks in power are there to do the will of the people, and when too much paternal reading of the riot act goes on, those Politicians end up out of a job.
This is an overview from about 5 years ago, when the most hopeful prognososis was..."10 years if we are lucky"
It seems closer to me, I hope so.
People, keep talking, loud and clear, CNN just had a drug war special with Gov. Johnson.
This would not have happened 2 years ago.
Lets wake up the neighbors.. and get them thinking.
Thanks for your time
Kelly

k's right.
we are moving closer. i can smell it. the social tides are changing. we are RIGHT but they don't see yet. they are gradually finding out that you can't fight and police a law when so many people disagree with it. if this law were about anything else, just about, it would have been repealed 25 years ago. if it was a law about kinds of food, or something, and 1/3 of the people still ate it, they would see that people like the food, and correct the mistake. they just aren't willing to try new foods.

this is civil disobedience. it works. it is working.

Default I think i said this somewhere else but...

I think that in order to get drugs legalized, the public opinion first has to change, then when the politicians see that things are changing, the laws will change too...

now i remember...i said this in the WoD post i think...go see. I think i talked in more depth about it there.

Yah, something is happening, what with the decrim laws coming up here in canada, and the Netherlands changing there ideas.

My newspaper had a special on Marijuana and it took a good unbiased look. Except they were badmouthing NORML alot.

Something should be happing..anyways.
