In order for pot to be legalized, interest groups have to be made illegal. While they are around and putting pressure on politicians, pot is never going to be legalized.

What are you talking about? Making any group illegal is against our freedom to association. Also if you make interest groups illegal you'll also be condenming thousands of good, beneficial interest groups.

How 'bout NORML, MPP, the ACLU, the NAACP, Common Cause, the Institute for Justice, and the November Coalition. These are just some of the interest groups that are defending your rights.

Interest groups are just individuals, working together to make change. Some interest groups are hazardous to freedom, but that is no excuse to take away their freedom to exist.

Government laws and controls started these problems in the first place, the last thing we need are more laws to restrict our already unjust political process.

I agree, we ourselves participate in interest groups.

In my opinion, we need to make the laws against marijuana so costly, it will override Congress' desire to take money from the special interest groups that want to keep it illegal.

Ok, the statement I made before wasn't thought out at all. What i meant to say was that interest groups have politicians by the balls and as long as they hold the power to finance politicians as much as they do, legalizing pot is going to be difficult.

Unless we start voting the people who are anti-marijuana out of office.

I at least would like to see the mis information on pot stop.Is there any way to call them on this?
The public's health could be affected if all the pro pot claims have any merit at all.
I like weed for the buzz and have no problem getting it. But there are a lot of people that won't even think of using pot to help thier problems as long as it is illegal

Sadly both power parties (D's And R's) stand strong against change for the better but the Libertarian party favors ending the drug war so if any Libertarians are running in your district I'm sure they'd appreciate your vote.

you need a "poster child", or 1000. support a big name law firm (cash) to sue a state (especialy one in a budget crisis) w/ very restrictive laws on behalf of someone or many(class action is the best way to go) that could use mj for medicinal purposes.

it will loose, but never stop pursuing it. it's a matter of $. eventually if the support, and threat is there, legalezation will make headway.

hell, look at the headlines that lawyer made by just filing against oreo cookies!
trans fat anyone?

the truth about canabis might come out during the process.

u need to be more organized, and main stream,

ordinary joes are "VICTIMS" of current policy.

sue everyone who "hurts" and "denies" "citizens" .

another place to start is to sue states on behalf of inmates or their surviving families for people that where arrested for being found w/ a seed and sentenced to 20 yrs.

reparations is the way to go.
