Default Finally took the leap and donated $1000 to NORML Canada

Well I finally decided that with our current conservative government it was necessary to finally donate... with the plan to sink another 65 million tax dollars into drug prohibition I had to do something to support those people who are working so hard to reform these foolish damaging and wasteful laws. Hopefully the conservative government will fall and we can elect a government that is willing to finally abolish all the lunacy. Plus NORML canada will send me a volcano vap ... so it was worth the donation lol

As a fellow stoner, I just want to thank you for doing something I hope to do someday

I recently gave them my first $10, in a plan to take that amount every month from my account. It makes me feel good to be doing. I hope one day I can afford to put in more like you have

i can probably find this on their site, but how does donating money help to get it legalized? I mean there is only so much you can do, and you cant pay the government to take away a crime. Just curious not meaning to say its pointless or anything.

Money can buy peoples time and efforts. It can contract large lobbying groups and make campaign donations.

It's not free to run a website (like norml.org), much less a whole campaign.

It's not like donating to Red Cross, where you can actually buy a malaria net thats going to Africa. You're not going to see what happens with your money. But it;s money well spent.

Cannabis is not at the forefront of most people's minds yet, which is why it has been very hard to get a good, long-term, honest debate on legalization. The money that we give to NORML is mostly spent on things like TV time, print advertisements, and pesky lobbyists who try to make sure the issue doesn't go away.

Well... Just keep giving $10 a month and eventually you'll get to $1,000.
