who thinks that they will actually legalize it? post any facts to support you answer if possible. i do think that they will eventually legalize it because its not that bad for you and its not even as bad as cigs why would they legalize it in the first place?

There's a forum discussing it. The general consensus is that it will be legalized, there's even a thread (and poll) about when.

Personally - I believe that it wont be legal until people get off their asses and do something about it. Education, education, education - really.

I hope marijuana is legalized soon.. but I doubt it will be. I am trying to keep positive though.

but i belive that it will start with a state wide legalization first starting with California since we have lead the charge for the most part with 215 and 420 then i think it will be either new mexico, arizona, or oregon next (new mexico is my first pick between the three with their state run medical grow opps) then it will spread out from their until finaly the federal government gives up its foolish "pogrom on drugs"

ya i know, sounds like im the type of guy who says the bowl is half empty instead of saying its half full right?

but thats not really true, let me explain. at first i really believed that they were going to legalize grass because i heard of study after study that had results which proved that marijuana was not as bad for your health as other legalized drugs therefore it should be legalized just because thats the logical thing to do.

but then i realized that politicians rarely use logic to talk about issues. they use feelings.
if they think that most people feel that grass is bad then its easier to get a majority vote by simply aggreeing wih them instead of trying to convince these people that in fact they are wrong. for example i live in canada and our prime minister right now is a right wing duschbag named steven harper.now do u think hes gonna look at the issue in a fair, balanced, and scientic manner, do u really think he cares about what the studies indicate.
no. all he knows (or wants to know) is that the right wing duschbags that are supporting him feel that marijuana is evil.

Convincing politicians is not the first step in getting marijuana legalized. Convincing the majority of the population that marijuana is not dangerous is. Once a majority favor legalization, the politicians should follow suit. I say "should" because 80% of the US voters surveyed favor the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes and our federal representatives are still dragging their feet. This introduces another factor: politicians do not respond only to the wishes of their constituents. They are strongly influenced by the lobbyists who provide funding for their campaigns. Unfortunately, campaign funding has a lot more to do with getting reelected than being the best candidate for the job.
