Thumbs up Online Photo Protest

After thinking long and hard about legalization and different routes of rallying the troops. I came up with the idea of an online photo protest. Basically you photograph yourself with a sign or smoking and upload it to the database. We collect all the photographs until April 20th 2008.

Next year 4/20 all the photographs will be printed out and sent to multiple government officials on the state and federal levels, here in the US, as a petition to legalize (medical) or decriminalize (recreational) marijuana. Depending on the overall outcome other government officials may be added to the list.

If this sounds like something you can accomplish please take your photo and upload it today, we can use all the support we can gather. Please note that names, addresses, etc are not recorded and you can sign up with any email address as there is no confirmation.

Prefered sign text is "I Toke 2"

Check out the site @ weToke2.com

Please let me know what you think about this idea.

I am all for legalization of marijuana.. something tells me taking a photo of yourself smoking an illegal substance, and sending it to a government official is not a wise decision.

this is done with the idea of showing them... for instance that they cannot arrest us all.
If we gather 500k or 1 million photos ( very realistic )
That would more than fill the prison system a second time.

Anyhow paranoid folks can also make a sign and photograph with that... ( This is the preferred method)

Ya gotta be kidding das3d! you`re kidding or you are a cop! I`ll forgive you if you are kidding. They (justice system) don`t need to toss a million people into prison, all`s thats needed is the money.Have you ever heard of the "great American court turnstyle system" ? ka-ching, ka-ching!

Where do you think the money is going to come from to print all the pictures? If you gathered enough for it to have any sort of impact, the printing costs would be appreciable..

And for anybody who thinks they can get arrested from a picture; No.. Clearly not.. There isn't even any way they can prove you're smoking marijuana in the photo, so all you'd have to do would be to deny it and there would be nothing that could do.

I'm neither kidding or a cop.... I think most of these so called advocates/smokers are kidding.

The point is they cant jail a million people.... shit I doubt they could do 500k.

what do you mean "They (justice system) don`t need to toss a million people into prison, all`s thats needed is the money."??

A good friend of mine owns a printshop with machinery capable of printing this type of job quickly and cost effectively. He has offered to run up to 3mil pages pro bono.

To add onto the getting arrested notion, I'm not holding any personal info, a real email address is not necessary, and the sign is the preferred way here. In a sense your signing a petition with your photo and more importantly your sign.

I don't see how this is supposed to be effective. Does this stop Geo Group, aka
Wackenhut, from trading their stock based on how many people are in their jails?
Does this stop the alcohol, tobacco, and pharmaceutical industries from profiting off
the drug prohibition? Does this stop these companies from paying for lobbyists? Does
this get lobbyists into congress? The answer is no. Not to be a dick but if you really
want to help get marijuana legalized, spread the word about groups like
Marijuana Policy Project and Norml.

You're right. They can't arrest you for being in a photo. What they can do is decide that you're a "person of interest" and begin to keep an eye on you. I don't know about other people, but I consider my freedom to be highly dependent on flying below the LE radar. I feel exposed enough by being an activist. I don't need to give the drug warriors any more reason to follow me around.

How much would it take for someone to see your picture, report it to your boss, and get you "randomly" tested every week?

Since only 60,000 people have bothered to take the much more useful and less incriminating step of joining one of the three major pro-legalization organizations, I really doubt the half a million people could be persuaded to make signs and post their pictures.
