See the thing is, the pharmaceutical companies (Merck, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, etc.) can't slap a patent on a naturally occuring substance, which is why they create products that contain synthetic THC; Dronabinol and Marinol have been legal via prescription for years.

The legislators from my state dragged their feet again this session and refused to sponsor legislation that would have made medical marijuana available to the sick, suffering and dying. It seems my constant urging fell on deaf ears, but I am still confident that there will be an end to this assinine prohibition one day soon.

Just a correction. Its actually 80% of Americans want medical marijuana legal. 72% want marijuana decriminalized according to that scientific poll.
