Um...I thought anything that burns contributes to Global Warming, even if it is "clean". Anyways, it was amazing facts, but the problem would be finding farmlands for hemp, the sudden change could hurt the economy, and who says the companies will start changing to hemp that easily? They already would have a good business running, and could not changing their machines to work on hemp. Also, the federal government would save tons of money not arresting for possession, growth/cultivation, buying & selling. The facts seem great, but when you put it like this to reality, it really doesn't become black and white.

Interesting read though.

It might not matter though because I am in Canada, and this is to the the US Congress...
Looks like there's.. either 1,500 signatures or 15,000.. I am stoned and can't remember. Either way it's progress.

Exactly. Thjeres no way to verify the info. Someone could type in a million names and turn it in. Without any way of verifying each and every signature, the document holds absolutely no weight, legal or otherwise. Its a nice gesture, but ultimately meaningless. You're right--its NOT perfect, because wheather you have 20 or two millions "signatures" the information cannot be verified. When people collect signatures for local and state referendums, the information collected is verfied against lists of registered voters. People 18 and under, people not from that district, etc aren't allowed to sign, or their signatures are discounted if they do somehow sign. However, in this case, theres no way of documenting anything, and therefore no matter how many people sign it, it'll just go in the trash if it ever actually lands on anyone's desk. I'm not trying to say we should give up the fight, but marijuana isn't going to be legalized by an online petition asking Congress to do so
