Yup, read it here!!!

The Ontario Superior Court has declared that Canada has no law that prohibits the possession of marijuana. This is the highest court in the Ontario justice system, and the ruling means that all judges must interpret future cases in this way. Technically, the decrim legislation will be "recriminalizing" possession!

So, andyone that gets arrested in Canada int he next few weeks, you'll be in a position to sue the police for wrongful arrest, no joke!

A U.S. Circuit Court said that saying the Pledge of Allegiance was wrong, so for a day or two, schools stopped saying the pledge, then the gov't said, 'Uh, wait a minute circuit court people, you don't make laws for the whole nation!"

Well, from what I've read on the link posted, it seems that this applies only in Ontario, not all of Canada. The article states:
While the new law would impose fines for pot possession, yesterday's ruling effectively eliminated any sanctions for simple pot possession in Ontario, they said.

and

The government still plans to introduce its marijuana-decriminalization legislation later this month.

So, this is not a Canadian-wide thing. Be Careful!

I still don't get what all the hub-bub is about in Canada anyway. Most states in the US only give a small fine for simple possession as it is now anyway! In California, anything under an OZ is a misdemeanor.
In Oklahoma a few years ago I saw a teen get a simple possession case dismissed since he had no prior record. This appears to be what Canada is looking to do. So who is following who? I don't see how Canada is doing anything earthshattering.

Just wondered.

Actually, it's expected to provide a precedent for all provinces; most of them have marijuana possession charges on hold right now pending the outcome of this trial.

Well, it may not be earth shattering, but the HUGE difference between Canada and the states is that in Canada the whole country is changing laws, not province by province thankfully. I definatley wouldnt say that Canada is following the states
