The point I was trying to get across is if there are 5 million pot smokers spending $2 a day on soda a temperary boycott would show the spending power of loadies. Polititions look at large groups of people as potential voters worth going after. The size of our group has never really been nailed down and this would be a real way to see how many pro legalization supporters there are. There are many who won't come out and publically support legalization.
It will also show us how addicted we are to flavored carbonated water.

5,000,000 x $2 x 365 = $3,650,000,000 a year in sales

Its the caffine were addicted to.
When they made cociane illegal they forgot to outlaw the other addictive substance.
Or perhaps that was just a result of some good negotiating.

Cokes revenue total for fiscal year 2002 was $19,564,000,000 according to the 2002 annual report.

Pepsi Revenues for the same period were $25,112,000,000. If you boycotted just the pepsi brand you would be boycotting:

Frito Lay (Good bye 80% of all munchie foods)
Gateraid
Tropicana
Quaker Foods
Lipton Teas
as well as the cola beverages: Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountian Dew, MD Code Red, Pepsi Twist, Wild Cherry Pepsi, Pepsi One, Pepsi Blue, Sierra Mist, Fruit Works, Amp, Mug Rootbeer, Aqua Fina, Mr. Green, Slice and Frappuccino.

That may be a bit difficult.

Or, right now, you could take those couple of bucks and save them for half a month and buy some stock in pepsi, get a cut of the earnings of all those product sales, get a nice little dividend every couple of months, thats free money that you can then donate to your favorite marijuana legalization movement like marijuana.com. Essentially, you would be using part of the earnings of pepsi to finance the movement against the war on drugs.

Whats better, the stock goes up a couple of bucks, and you get even more money for the capital appreciation of the stock.

Plus you can vote for who audits the firm, who sits on the board of directors for the firm, and other such goodies. Its not about protesting, it is about protesting intellegently.

You want to end the drug war. You need to stop the money from all the companies that are funding that. To stop the money, you can either destroy the company by force, or simply own it and change it from within.

Both Coke and Pepsi sit at 44 bucks a share for that ownership. Commissions are 7 bucks at scott trade.

$3,950,000,000 at 44 dollars a share would get 82,954,000 shares of Pepsi. The shares would accrue just over $18,000,000 in dividends every 3 months (donated to your favorite cause of course), and could vote on a specific matter with 83 million votes. Year after year after year. Think about what only a couple of million almost accomplished in Nevada. So whats the excuse?

Peace.

A while back we tried to get a boycott of coke going. They support the partnership for a drug free american and fund T.V. adds. The boycott failed from lack of interest.
