| Holland is an over-poulated land, 16. ? million in the size the area of Rhode Island. * If you apply for residency to work and live in the Netherlands_ be sure to be able to prove the following: *Job_ with a " fast contract" that garuantees ligitimate employment. * a bank account_ with atleast 5 figures, so we won't have to support you, if it all goes bust...enough of those people here, ex-colonies, using our resouces and sending it to their families abroad. * Health Insurance_ from a private sector, not the public health system because you are a guest here with a work permit, not a citizen * an address_ in the private sector, no public housing for you, so have lots of money and buy a cool place near the coffeeshops. * a criminal record won't help your chances of getting a 12 month, temporary work permit. So, think twice if you think The Netherlands wants another refugee from the disunited states of corruption. Doei... |

| I have asked the question numerous times, in a variety of threads. It is a commonly held belief that there are corporations that give quite a lot of money to the Drug War, companies who would have a lot to loose in the event marijuana becomes legalized. Yet nobody knows who the companies are. It is not good enough to say "Yeah, there are these companies who give hundreds of millions if not billions to the drug war every year" and not atleast have an example or two that can be proven. Moving to holland or canada does not solve the problem as it is now. The U.S.'s policy on drugs reachs the four corners of the globe. And holland does not need an influx of stoners to come in and as Dutch Zin said, take the jobs from the citizens there because they want to smoke pot. It is just turning your back on the problem and leaving it for other people to fix. It is the exact mindset that is responsible for the position we find ourselves in now. Instead of writing your representatives, editors, participating in marchs and town hall discussions, buying stock in the companies who support the war and a host of other activist avenues you can peruse. You would rather just leave. But you will be smoking the grass when we finally legalize it, you just did nothing to assist the effort. Hundreds of thousands of people are in prison for marijuana in the United States alone. There are tens if not hundreds of thousands of people who suffer needlessly with terminal conditions that marijuana can help eleviate and improve the quality of their life. There is so much more to the legalization movement than just being able to smoke pot. There is a lot more at stake than just police busting in your door. Either be part of the solution, or part of the problem, there is no middle ground. Peace.

| Great post there Greenman. But I've got one problem with it. The sheer ruthlessness of conservatives when they have total power. They've already shown their willingness to ignore the popular vote & they're more than ready to use every dirty trick in the book to keep the power & burden the majority of the population with their 19th century ideals (made into law). They are locking up people for making plastic & glass things simply because these items MIGHT be used to smoke the worlds most usefull herb. Those people didn't have bongs with illegal resin or anything, yet got busted all the same. Ashcroft has ALREADY made this country into a more dictorial system of guilty until proven innocent....not for everyone... but if THEY want YOU to be included; YOU will most definately be held guily until proven innocent. OK, so fine... it's good to fight the good fight... I have been since the ****ing 60's..... but VERY soon, if you wanna fight the good fight, you'll be locked up. I'll probably end up behind bars again eventually coz I'm too poor to flee while I have a chance. AMERICA #1 (in political prisoners)

| Well, if I "ran away" to Canada or Holland I would be doing exactly what our founding fathers did when they came to America. They moved here for freedom which they simply could not attain back in their home country. The longer I am on this earth, the more aware I am that America will never legalize. I hope to God they do, and I try to do my part, but our words and cries are falling on deaf ears. The common men such as ourselves have no clout with the government. They do things their own way and no matter how loud we shout we won't make a dent. Sorry, I guess I'm a little pessimistic right now; or, perhaps I am being realistic? If Canada legalized tomorrow, I would be there. I just can't stand to live in an ostensibly "free" country that really isn't as free as it advertises. |
