| I think we all agree that pot should be legal, but what should the minimum age to buy it be? I don't really think young kids should be smoking it any more than they should be drinking, but then again, tons of kids in high school drink, and a lot of kids I know have smoked in like 8th grade and such. Young kids are probably going to be able to get their hands on it if they really want it, anyhow, as is shown by them getting alcohol/cigs now. However, if young kids weren't allowed to buy it, it would keep a decent amount of them from getting it and it might even be harder for them to get it than it is now (I'm under 21 and it's easier for me to get pot than alcohol). I've heard that there have been reports of brain damage caused by smoking pot at an early age, but I haven't really heard too much about it, probably because there aren't really any studies about this. I also think that if a kid in school hangs out with his friends and smokes all the time his grades might suffer, but then again, I knew a lot of kids in high school who smoked up before class every day and were in all my AP classes and whatnot and did fine. So I'm not really exactly sure where I stand at this point...how about you? |

| I would be suprised if there wasn't already a thread on this, but ill assume there isn't and post here. As much as I hate the idea of seperating people because of their age, and pretending that at a certain age somebody will become magically mature, id have to say 15 or 16. Like conine says "Freedom is the right to choose the habits that binds you." Why should only those over 18 be free? If its legal to drive a car at 16 it should be legal to smoke some herbs as well (not while driving, of course.)

| 18, but in all likelyhood, it would be 21 if legalized in the US. The US gov't feels that people under the age of 21 are oftenly not mature enough of handeling a substance which will affect there mind and judgement, which in many cases is true.

| I put 18 just because 18 and 21 seem to be the most common age requirements and if it was ever legalized it would probably be one of the two. Also I think 21 would be a bit drastic. |

| 18...that should be the age for everything...legal adulthood and all ![]() Plus it's the age where you can legally buy bongs, pipes, lighters and all your other paraphenalia, so you should naturally be able to buy what it's all for, too ![]()

| I don't know, 3-0, 18 would be the logical age, but I think 21/over would be the way to go...in fact, everything should be 21 (inclu- ding driving)...I can hear everybody now, "that stupid old fart"... but I still think there are too many idiots at 16 to 21, and even then just because one is 21 doesn't make him immediately mature ...hell, 30 & over, how's that one?..................... ![]() |

| I think the same age as alcohol. Why let them have one substance at a certain age and not the other?, i think that would be a more responsible decision.
