i would like marijuana to be legal, but honestly, it is far from the top of my political change list. i worry about poverty first. i care far more about somebody being able to eat than somebody not catching a misdemeanor charge. more drug laws than just weed would have to change to make this huge difference people talk about in the amount of money spent on the war on drugs.

I wouldn't mind owning one of the islands off the west coast of canada, but I wouldn't move there. Ya know why? Cause I'm an American. The is my ancestors blood in this earth around here. My family has been here since the early 1700's. We came across to America and settled first in Pennsylvania and then in and around the war as a soldier of the American Revolution.
After the war was over America didn't have a whole lot of hard cash to spend on a soldiers back pay, but they did have land in the Ohio river valley all surveyed and ready to go, so they payed the soldiers with six hundred and forty acres and my ancestors traveled across the eastern U.S. to the wilds of Northern Kentucky in the early eighteen-hundreds.

This land is my land. My family has been involved in it ever since it was started. Our service to her gaurantee's the right for me engage in the rights of any citizen. My dues have been payed.........

Nothing against Canada, but you guys, well, you guys.......

I care a lot.

People's lives are turned upside down by ridiculous, outdated, unfair drug policy.

Marijuana is safer than alcohol and tobacco. Period. It just is. Smoke as much as you want, it will never do as much damage to your body. It won't make you crazy, it won't shrink your brain, it won't cause you to lose any and all sense of motivation in life. And yet, people have their lives ruined over possession charges. A felony for possessing a harmless plant? I can have a cellar full of old wine bottles, I could crack them open and drink them all in one night and it's legal. But I can't smoke a little herb while I watch The Sopranos and munch on cheesy popcorn? Give me a fucking break!

The efforts...the lavish, extraordinary efforts that law enforcement go through to control use and possession of a silly little plant...it's absurd. It is absolutely fucking absurd and a majority of the population in this country agrees.

We shouldn't even have to go any further than that - majority rule. Maybe if our Representatives started actually representing us, they'd vote to decriminalize possession of marijuana. But the majority is forced to just take it up the ass because the rich minority (who conveniently own the pharmaceutical companies, prisons (yes, lots of prisons are privately owned) and other such profit-whoring companies) control everything. What a country! Was this really the American dream?

People came to this land and founded this country because they wanted their natural-born freedom to believe whatever they wanted to believe (or, technically, for religious freedom - but that's just semantics). People founded this country because they wanted to be able to make their own rules, to be able to decide on their own what was best for them, they didn't want some tyrannical government controlling their lives. Now we are stuck with this shit? We're stuck with a majority opinion that means absolutely nothing? We're living in fear that we could go to jail for our beliefs? We're deprived of our very liberty for doing something that is virtually harmless? It's sick. It is so twisted. I can't even wrap my mind around how fucking terrible it is and how awful it makes me feel.

I think it is high time (pun intended) that we rise up and fight this shit. We need new people in government, we need new laws, we need changes. I am sick of feeling like a prisoner in my daily life. I want to be as free to expand my mind and senses with marijuana as my neighbor is to kill himself with nicotine and alcohol. I want to be free.

First off, coming on here and asking 'who cares if pot is legalized' is crazy. Obviously, we all want marijuana to be legalized. And instead of ranting and raving I'll just say simply for the fact that I do not wish to be penalized when busted smoking weed. I'm sure many others feel this same way

Well now, faded, seems to me that being a little crazy has gotten me three pages of responses and a nice little thread about legalization.....

I like that if that's your definition of "crazy"......

And have no doubts that I pay attention. I just wanted to wait a few days to let it mellow.....

Well, I want weed to be legal in America, because, even though I think Canada is better than the US (free medicare dontcha know), Canada is still following in the footsteps of the US, so to speak.

Bottom line, US weed legalization, would mean Canada, would probably be rooting for legalization as well. I still think anything short of full legalization, is not acceptable. I dont want any tickets for posession, even if its only a misdemeanor.
