I know personaly a brain surgen who smokes weed regularly, and says that there is nothing wrong with it at all. We've been friends for 13 years, and smoked alot since then. Personally I'm going on 7 years with a job, makeing, 90k a year, kids, wife, and graduated in top 10% in my class at U of H. And believe me when I said college was alot of smoking, hell I live in Texas, oz's for $35! So to conclude you can do what you want, pot isn't going to make you stupid, it's not going to make you a genius, it will just make you feel cool.

Well... Through my personal experience, Cannabis has helped me for the better. In class, I did not have the attention span to focus on reading and so fourth. Not to mention, I am legally blind in one eye. Thus, reading puts severe strain on my good eye, Then giving me major migraines. I had a low GPA, after...Low and behold! Higher grades! I was a major art student and later became a tattoo artist. I now own many tattoo shops nationwide and make well over 400k a year. As far as being lazy...I do get my times where after being busy all day, I like to sit down and do absolutely nothing and sit back and smoke a huge spliff. In other ways, If I have stuff to do.. I love doing it high. I really love the smell of cleaning products.

I have smoked pot on and off since middle school and I have graduated from college with a 3.5 gpa. I have a wife and a good job and I now smoke more than I ever had before. I do admit it can make me lazy and a little brain-dead from time to time but all that anti-drug propoganda makes pot out to be a little worse than it really is.

| It's a Myth.. Google Myth: Pot kills brain cells Government experts now admit that pot doesn't kill brain cells.(8) This myth came from a handful of animal experiments in which structural changes (not actual cell death, as is often alleged) were observed in brain cells of animals exposed to high doses of pot. Many critics still cite the notorious monkey studies of Dr. Robert G. Heath, which purported to find brain damage in three monkeys that had been heavily dosed with cannabis.(9) This work was never replicated and has since been discredited by a pair of better controlled, much larger monkey studies, one by Dr. William Slikker of the National Center for Toxicological Research(10) and the other by Charles Rebert and Gordon Pryor of SRI International.(11) Neither found any evidence of physical alteration in the brains of monkeys exposed to daily doses of pot for up to a year. Human studies of heavy users in Jamaica and Costa Rica found no evidence of abnormalities in brain physiology.(12) Even though there is no evidence that pot causes permanent brain damage, users should be aware that persistent deficits in short-term memory have been noted in chronic, heavy marijuana smokers after 6 to 12 weeks of abstinence.(13) It is worth noting that other drugs, including alcohol, are known to cause brain damage. | My take on the whole "anti-motivational syndrome" crap: I believe when you smoke marijuana, it puts you in a state of mind where you're more in touch with yourself. It facilitates a state of psychological self-examination. In this self-examinatory state, some people (like myself) re-evaluate their priorities in life, causing them to make changes. For example: One day, while mind-shatteringly stoned, a man working at a menial office job comes to the realization that he hates his job and would rather try to make it as a painter, so he quits his job and begins painting. Viewed from the outside, this may seem like a dumb move, as he has forfeited his financial security to chase what some would call a "pipe dream" (pun fully and shamelessly intended). But from his perspective, he's left a crappy, depersonalizing job in favor of a career that, while not bringing in boat loads of money, provides him with a great deal of joy and personal satisfaction. I think, in most cases, marijuana (and other off-topic mind-expanders) bring out the true "you". If someone starts smoking pot and suddenly becomes an artist, they more than likely already had that artistic streak in them, it just took the pot to bring it out. On the other hand, if someone starts smoking weed and suddenly becomes all lazy and stupid, they probably already had a predilection toward being lazy and stupid. It's like Bill Hicks said: "Sure I can get up at dawn, go to a job that I hate that does not inspire me creatively whatsoever . . . for the rest of my fucking life. (Puffs imaginary joint.) Or I can wake up at noon . . . and learn how to play the sitar!" |

I do more homework when I'm stoned than when I dont. I go to the library stoned with my books to read and a bottle of water and I'll stay there for hours. I'm also more productive at work and more receptive to whats going on when I'm stoned. Its easier for me to take what I have to do and simply do it. Smoking pot wont kill your GPA but I'll admit its a common myth they they love to push on abovetheinfluence. I know so many adults who are majorly successful in their professional careers but induge in grass pretty regularly. NYU university is one of the top schools in the nation and the school is known for their distinguishable number of pot smokers (both closet and open smokers). Fact is if you're a lazy bum and you smoke pot, you will become an even lazier unproductive bum. But for me and many others marijuana can help you cool down and relax and get your shit done, it can turn a big project into something more manageable, and it can help you get other things off your mind and focus on the bigger picture.

For me its more like when I get high I typically want to do lazy things like video games or movies. So I find my self doing that kind of stuff a lot more when I smoke regularly. But when I have stuff to do and I get high while I do it I am much more organized and productive. Like cleaning for example. If I have something to clean I just get high and get it done in no time and it gets really clean. So it kinda works both ways for me. I think the point is that its not weed that makes people how they are.
