As far as my life going no where this is also not the case. I take full time college classes and have a full time sales position and I do very well at both. All this despite smoking marijuana. It comes down to the individual. If you can be responsible then you should have no issues!! | |

Please try to refrain from making generalizations. Generalizations create stereotypes, and stereotyping leads to persecution.

| I'm not going to generalize anybody's situation, but I definitely think that moderation is key. In my personal experience, I developed a bit of a burnout situation at my last school because I smoked pot day in and day out between classes, so I was always a little off and didn't perform as well as I could have. Still ended up with a GPA above 3.0, but it definitely dropped a few points and I actually got B's in English classes (something I almost NEVER do...) I also ended up skipping a lot of class, which didn't really reflect in my grades because I kept up my classwork (with the aid of non-script Adderall and cocaine, which is an up-and-down situation I do NOT recommend; bad for both mind and body) but I definitely missed out on a lot of classroom experiences and actual knowledge, which is the reason we're in school to begin with. Skipping a class pertaining to your future career to smoke a blunt and participate in a Guitar Hero tournament may be fun, but is not necessarily a bright decision. Would I change my experience now that I have some retrospect? Probably not. But do I regret some of the decisions I made? Maybe. In any case, I ended up snatching a high-profile job in my community before I've even graduated when none of my classmates have even landed an interview, I have a 3.8 GPA in my major, and I still smoke. But I've cut back significantly to the point that I actually enjoy getting high again, rather than feel like a burnout all the time. So the decision to perform in school is definitely a personal choice, with or without the use of marijuana.

| Exactly. Unfortunately, until marijuana is made legal, we can't teach moderation, we can only say "don't do it" and hope people listen. Criminalization is getting in the way of real drug education. |

| No, I can't. Am I as quick when I'm high as when I'm sober? No, but thats not what you are trying to say. marijuana affects me when I'm under its influence. When i'm done being high, I'm just as intelligent, quick, etc as I was before I ever discovered weed. Weed doesn't make you dumb. If you were dumb before you started smoking, chances are its not going to improve the situation. That being said, if you had two brain cells to rub together before you ever touched weed, chances are it isn't going to make you any dumber, either. Marijuana has little to no effect on actual intelligence. If you're smart, you'll be smart after smoking weed. if you were dumb, well....you'll just be as dumb as you were, not moreso
