California's Legalizing Marijuana in Oakland
I was watching the news and they announced they were trying out a new program that would allow terminally ill patients to posses small amounts of Marijuana without being prosecuted as long as they have a note from a doctor saying that it's being used for medical purposes then went on to say if a cop sited you take the card to the DA and they will not be punished .

Don't get me wrong, it's definetly a step in the right direction, but did your news offer any assurance against federal prosecution? Just curious, as that seems to be the main problem with state/city ordinances giving legal authorization for marijuana.

It seems kind of weird isn't this supose to be the country where the people can vote to make somthing happen.Like with Medical marijuana the people voted to make it legal in cali.Then the government comes along and tells them no it's still illegal.Which means they didn't have the right to vote at all.

Seems kind of confusing.

Not only that, they are willing to take medicine from A LOT of suffering or dying patients. Don't they have anyone else to pick on?

Take a look at THIS article about marketing THC and CBD (Canabidiol) under the pharmecutical name of "Sativex" in the UK. It's a spray you apply under your tounge. I found it pretty interesting.

But is the government only busting down on california Doctors or are any of the other states who have medical marijuana.

What I really don't get is they won't use marijuana but they will use all these other drugs that ruin lives all the time.The perscription drugs they already have are being abused and ruining lives I don't see what the problem is with having a safe drug that can help lives just as much as those other drugs.

I could sit here and make my point till the cows come home.. BUt where all on the same page..... Lets start writing some letters about this... I wouldn't even know where to start? ANd I live in Cali..... I grow too... So .. I don't want to be pin pointed from the feds.. But I have a medical licence so they shouldn't **** with me.. BUt that doesn't give you a Get out of jail free card.. If feds want you they will get you.. In current affairs there is a thread I started on Sick and Dieing people have to fight to live... GO check it out if you havn't already and you get an Idea of what type of people the goverment is messing with..

For real. Like my grandma yo, she takes like 14 different prescrip. drugs every day. not only is it sucking up all her meager retirement check, but guess what she has to take this **** for? 4 kinds of arthritis, glaucoma, chronic pain, and the rest of it is for side effects of drugs she's already taking! she could just use marijuana, and she'd have more money, and be happier because she's not so doped up on those prescrip. pills. Unfortunately, in the state of Alabama and in the US, she'd be a criminal, just for seeking the best medicinal therapy to ease her ills. And it's even worse in Alabama because we don't have any sections providing for voter ballot initiatives and stuff like that in our constitution! We need federal action now!

You will notice the insane amount of plants most of these people have... But if you read the story most of them are caregivers or sick people growing for others than them selves... Now that's Companionate... Considering how much it takes to grow pot!!!

It doesn't matter how much 'protection' the city wants to offer the people, if the government wants to step in and prosecute they can all they want. Federal government has always been over state, which is why many non-weed smoking people think Ed Rosenthol is guilty because he should have known better.

I think the only reason (well possibly not the only but the biggest) reason that it (medicinal cannabis) is illegal is because the government would then be admitting it was wrong and making its whole war on marijuana thing a joke (not that it isnt already). Because if they legalized it for medical use the basic message it would be sending out is "you cant use marijuana because its dangerous, but if your ill you can use it because it helps you". And i beleive thats the reason why medical marijuana wont be fully legalized until marijuana itself does.
