Default MA State Rep- Martin "Mental Institution" Walsh on Marijuana Decrim

MA State Representative Martin Walsh speaking at the State House on 3/18/2008.

Starting out Rep. Walsh says that he would support making alcohol illegal and that he knows nothing of the marijuana decrim bill he is speaking in opposition against.

He moves onto the disproven propaganda about marijuana being a gateway drug. He also seems to completely ignore the fact that people in his own district are having trouble finding work after being arrested for one joint, 10 years ago.

And somewhere in the rant, Walsh blows off the majority of voters in his district (57%), who have voted for marijuana decrim.

Is this guy for real?

leave to my state(MA) to have the STUPIDEST people working in the government, i watched on the news last night that MA is now trying to criminalize Saliva, which if caught selling, growing or using could end up in a prison sentence of up to 5 years, while our neighbors to the north New Hampshire just passed a bill decriminializing marijuana(although the governer said he would veto the bill).

I live in Mass too. I have to say it's just tragic when we have a state government open-minded enough to OK same sex marriage, but keep Marijuana and now make Salvia illegal.

Massachusetts Gov't serving human rights: 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Well done, asshats.

I was standing pretty close to him behind the camera, and I couldn't stop laughing at the beginning at his remarks, I had to leave the camera and walk out the back so as not to cause a scene of myself...

But I was also smiling in glee, knowing I had it on camera. The sad thing is that the cowards that won't pass it but remain silent. Martin Walsh is the only speaker in the three hearings to publicly speak against it. Like 30+ that have spoken in support from all walks of life. I don't agree and laugh at the statements but at least Martin Walsh is who he says he is. The nameless, faceless reps that won't support it and remain silent are the real disgrace. Martin buys the propaganda, if he realized the truth, he'd be a great alley because he doesn't back down....

A new video with other testimony from the hearing. One bill has been moved by a committee. The initiative is moving forward and will be on the ballot and binding if they don't do something hefore then. This video and some quotes from me ran in some local newspapers today. Syndicated.

Thumbs up

How can he say people are not sitting in jail because of possessing one ounce of marijuana. Maybe they would not be sitting in jail for possessing one ounce of marijuana if possessing one ounce of marijuana were decriminalized. And I also think this idiot clearly expresses his support for alcohol prohibition. I think it's 100% no doubts about it fact that prohibition of alcohol is not going to work. Look back at all the speakeasies, increase in drinking rates, (similar to how drug prohibition has caused increased use) and the ORIGINAL ITALIAN GANGSTERS going around shooting tommy guns at the law and each other. If you want to stop the crime associated with drugs, you end the prohibition. And if alcohol prohibition were reinstated, I think there would be mass drinking and rioting in the streets at this point. Wouldn't that be hysterical, lmao. This guy is an absolute idiot and why you would vote for this guy is beyond me. He is completely uninformed on prohibition laws and pretty much sat there and made douche bag comments with no knowledge of anything. Does he even know how much one ounce of marijuana is? We are not talking about one little bud here. And the rap-sheet comment is partly true, but there still are close to a million arrests in this country each year on simple possession alone. As Jimmy Carter said himself, "Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself; and where they are, they should be changed." The bottom line here is that the drug use is punishment enough to a person's life and why should we just cause more harm to a person's life? Decriminalization is absolutely right and I can assure you from my own personal experience, that people smokin buds shouldn't be locked up in the company of people who have done real crimes. It really makes you fear for your safety. So I give a big thumbs up for decrim.
