How about we be logical, and since he posted this on a marijuana board, he means to take our side in this war

You don't know that. And even if he/she did decide to work for the DEA or whatever that shouldn't mean that they are against MJ legalization. You have some very fine posters on this website who are members of law enforcement who bust crack users and dealers all the time. Fighting the war on drugs doesn't just mean fighting MJ ONLY.

Seems pretty self-explanatory to me. Especially after a quick review of the OP's posting history, which would have negated the need for your post.

Hi guys. sorry about the confusing wording, and sorry about the long time between posts i have a full time job and a part time job right now so my time is limited. I want to fight against the war on drugs. I want to fight for legalization of everything.

Andrew87- what can you do with a public policy degree? I googled it but it wasn't very clear.

WeedGod- I don't think I would want a degree in criminal justice because I would never want to be a cop. To much danger with very little respect or pay(anyone who says they don't care about money is lying ) to go along with it.

So far I'm thinking of being a lawyer to help people accused of mj/other drug crimes. especially distribution. But it doesn't seem that would help the war in the long run. Mabey I'll be a professional anarchist or somthing like that

Essentially - the careers entail policy analysis (of many different focuses: law, education, social issues, etc.). Similar to a political scientist.

This (or poli. sci.) is an excellent education to have if you were to run for public office - a venue in which you could potentially make the most difference in regards to legalization.

You can do much more with a criminal justice degree than police work, plus, working in the cj system will help you to gain some excellent qualifications/connections for a second career in politics. However, I believe there are much better alternatives to pursue the goals which you have stated.

What better way to fight against the war on drugs than to become a member of law enforcement and refuse to enforce the unjust drug laws in place? I'm sure some people have the balls to go that far for a cause...there just aren't enough potential martyrs for peaceful causes anymore.

Depending on what your superiors would think of this, it is not likely possible.

Also, even if it were to work, it would only help the legalization movement on a very small scale.

You can slip a lot past your superiors when you're out on patrol...

I know it would only help on a small scale, Andrew, but in reality isn't that all one person can aspire to do, unless they realize they have some calling or are in the right place at the right time to initiate change on a very large scale? You know what Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world." Along with his exhuberant advocation of using enemas, but hey...I guess we all have our quirks.

Hey man,

I think its cool your tring to get up on this board to figure out what you want to do.

I didn't know what I wanted to do when I went to college. I knew I wanted to be an activist.
Thats exactly what I did.

Don't listen to these people telling you to become a cop, or a politician.
There are several fields that actvists need to focus on to bring light on Cannabis/hemp

First
Science: Right now this is the most important sector. Scientists are currently researching many new things, some of this research can be applied to Cannabis and hemp. Most importantly, product development research and materials science.
With more research into how we can use hemp/cannabis there will be more need for it.

Which leads to this field

Business: Business is what will fuel the hemp economic boom. America had an industrial revolution once, right now it really needs another one. If you have read the book the Emporer Wears No Clothes, you know how many uses hemp has.

When it comes to business these go hand in hand.

Economics: When you are working in this field, usually you are doing research on market data. Finding out how many types of what shop is where, or how many people of a certain type will buy this thing. Right now I could use a little statistical knowledge on what the price of hemp will be after American farmers realize what kind of plant it really is.

Actually there is a whole list of things you could be doing... Actually we should keep in contact. Email me or find me on facebook. Greypoe@yahoo.com

Why not listen to the people throwing out cop or politician as a suggestion? It's merely a suggestion, and I don't much care for your "holier than thou" activist attitude. Get a real job...
