| I remember my School House Rock..."I'm just a Bill, yes I'm only a Bill, and I'm sitting here on Capital Hill...." ![]() I also got an A in Government, so that helps some too. As long as it remains only a Bill, it does no good, unfortunately. I am really hoping more people than not vote yes on it.

| I sent my congress person those two letters. I got a form letter back and replied. Both are here in their entirety. Dear Kelly, Thank you for contacting me in support of loosening the federal laws on marijuana possession. It is good to hear from you. On this issue we will have to agree to disagree. I believe that the federal government must take a strong stand in opposition to all illegal drugs, including marijuana. In addressing the drug problem, the federal government must work in concert with state and local governments, which have primary jurisdiction over this issue. We must continue to stop drugs before they reach the country, while they are in the country, and after they have caused addiction. We cannot win this war against crime and drugs without a comprehensive plan. Several years ago, I was successful in obtaining a Drug Enforcement Administration field office in Rockford . At the time, it was the first to be opened in three years. In addition, retired Judge Al Penniman of my Rockford office serves as my personal liaison to the different community-based anti-drug coalitions in the Sixteenth Congressional District. Of course, much work remains to be done to keep our kids, schools and communities drug-free. Thanks again for contacting me. Best wishes. P.S. Communicating with the people I represent is very important to me. If you would like to stay informed of my activities in Congress, please visit Representative Don Manzullo and sign up for my email updates. You can register to receive my e-newsletter, all my news releases, and updates on various issues. Sincerely, /m/ Donald A. Manzullo Member of Congress Well, you leave me no choice, sorry, there is no more reason to think of you as a rational politician, the drug war was a pack of racist lies when it was started and nothing has change since then except that it's gotten worse. My vote now goes libertarian. It's a statement, I understand they don't, yet, have a snowball's chance in hell but I am tired of seeing you people steal my rights under the guise of some morality that I don't share. Wake up congressman- The lies don't work any more. I remember when you first started in politics- Wake up guy. You just lost my vote and that of any other person I can talk to about this as the public KNOWS better than to believe the lies and the lobbying the D.E.A. propagates to stay in business. As a counterbalance to the skewed information you are receiving from the D.E.A might I direct you to an organization known of as Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. Much luck to you, but Illinois doesn't need any more dinosaurs or truth benders of the likes of George Bush. Your letter just put you on the same footing, do you think I am stupid, sir? I've been advocating for this change since 1980, and finally we have the media on our side and the people, it is only you politicians, whom we, the people, fear have some sort of power or financial gain to make in keeping prisons filled and people cowed who keep reiterating all of the tired old propaganda. I know, my vote for the libs won't help them much, but it and the votes of any other cannabis user, medical or otherwise, sure as shootin' won't be coming your way. In contention, sir, Kelly L. White
