That's been tried (USSR, China) and didn't work out too well. It seems that without the incentive of a potential prize, people don't work very hard or innovate at all. Both countries are doing much better since they've allowed people the potential to get rich off of their labors and ideas.

What Bernie never explained is that so many institutions are maintained by the war on pot and are like parasites who refuse to go away. Criminal justice, social work, psychiatric evaluations, detox, bail bonds, lawyers, money launderers et al. I couldn't begin to list them all. Bill Bennett, a hypocrite and low life who feeds off the fear of drugs to feed his corpulent gambling and boozing habits. Those are the kind of folks who Bernie claimed were "just doing their job."

I'm sure these enforcement folks rightly realize that their job security is on the line if certain leafy substances are decriminalized and will stick up for each other to maintain their power in the system.

These segments of our workforce feeding off the unjust laws, who shrug their shoulders like Bernie did, would kill their firstborn to get their 30 years pension.

Don't trust leo for a minute. Sad but true. They are taught how to lie to get you to give it up. There is no moral integrity in a system like that.

The machines will come and go, but people will notice, and people will remember. It is gaining momentum in the mass media simply because it is expanding.
