Cannabis legal in Alaska

So as of right now, cannabis is now legal in Alaska since the state constitution overrides the state law. That privacy language they have in their constitution paid off :P

Anyways, I made this thread to get some detailed ideas on what this could do for the reform community. Any ideas on what the federal reaction will be? Will Alaskans support this measure?
How will NORML and the MPP use this to their advantage?

That is sort of how alcohol prohibition was beaten, but in that case it was New York that stopped arresting people.

Seems like they would be talkng about this on the news channels. This is a pretty big move should be causng a stir.

I can't find it being mentioned on any major news networks. Anyone else having any luck?

The three of us cant be the only ones who are interested in this decision. I thought people would be praising the heavens.

The story isnt even on the NORML site. I would think they would be making speeches and telling other judges to follow is lead.

Where is the coverage? Where is the controversy? All of a sudden I believe in a government consperacy to control the news.

I'm interested in this decision a LOT, its just that I expressed my opinion on it on the comments section of the news article on the front page.

THe problem is that federal law apparently applies to all 50 states and territories, so the Feds can still bust people in Alaska. Which kinda sux.

What the hell is going on?

I see nothing on reform sites about this HUGE news. They are acting as if this didn't happen like the government is doing everything it can to keep it quiet.

I was posting about it on a message board called free speech america, linked from msnbc.com. They deleted it everytime I posted anything about... it was in the middle of a damn marijuana legalization thread.

Anyone else have any information on why this is being kept so low?

We gotta email pot-tv make sure they get the word out. I assume they've read it but you never know.

The major news outlets are reluctant to provide information about decisions like this one in Alaska. The fact that news like this has been kept quiet has amazed me since I started following marijuana news.

Best thing to do is email Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN. Somebody there will be on our side and slip it in with the main stream issues.
