I don't smoke anything. I only vape. Is it OK to tell my doc about MJ use? He will advice to stop obviously, but I wonder if it will create insurance problems. | |

I have never been tested, by any of my doctors. Where are you getting your information that civilian doctors are doing this?

| Ok lemme take a swing at this. Im in no way a doctor but I myself am a hypochondriac of sorts and looked into the heart thing quite a bit. Its true that it does raise your heart rate slightly but so does a whole load of things including anxiety, and physical activity. The average increase after smoking is around 20 beats per minute if what Ive read on the matter is to be believed. That is roughly the same as running up a flight of stairs. If I had to guess Id say that you are probably noticing the increase seeing as your high and all and begin to dwell on it causing more and more anxiety which in turn causes your heart to beat faster which causes you to worry even more which causes . . . well you can see how it goes. I personally know two heart patients that smoke weed daily. One takes medicine for high blood pressure and the other has had an angioplasty procedure (or whatever its called when they put a balloon in your artery) and neither of them have fell over dead. I dont know how much peace of mind this will give you but here is an article that made me feel quite a bit better on the whole subject. Marijuana Heart Risk Unlikely to be Significant, Says Expert.<----clicky ! However, if you want a definitive answer its always best to be safe than sorry. Sure you might be paranoid and worried and feel silly after you see a doctor but there are people far less paranoid and worried on slabs right now. Last edited by Xanthious : 06-29-2008 at 12:24 AM. Well, that's accupuncture. I'm curious about real MD's, etc., as I've never heard of it before. | |

| One should Always check with their doctor. Some heart medications experience a Decrease in effectiveness when used With Cannabis. Most often times pain medicines, anti-anxiety meds etc experience an Increase in effectiveness thus many Docs do monitor Medical Cannabis users and also the reason why many drop Prescription drugs all together or reduce dosages. |

| Ive had blood work done at the doctor for unrelated testing and they saw the THC. My nurse asked if everything was OK in my life and wondered why i had such high levels of THC in my system. I explained I was a daily patient and she casually changed the subject, seemingly loosing interest in the topic. Later the doctor verified that I toked daily, to which I ofcoarse admitted. He then smartly took it into consideration with my diagnosis and my treatment went on as normal. You should have no concerns with your doctor seeing weed in your system. They are there to help you and have to adhere to patient/doctor confidentiality.
