| lately ive really felt awful, both physically and emotionally, and hearing from everyone here on MJ.com has helped me through the dark, emotionally. So i just wanted to express my appreciation for you people who have shared accounts of your ordeals with me. theyve made me to feel less alone in this. im not sure which is worse for me, the height of my pain, or the feelings that come along with it. im not sure if anyone who doesnt suffer from chronic pain can understand. i sure as hell didnt. i had NO IDEA what it was like for members of my family and others with chronic pain until i had my accident. the pain is bad enough, but then i start to think of everything i cant do now, things that i used to take for granted. walking. running. lifting weights, and in fact lifting ANYTHING without pain. i feel so much less self-sufficient now. i think that THAT ranks among the worst. i think thats almost worse, feeling so ...hurt. hurt, and misunderstood. i feel like people think im faking it. but maybe im being harsh on myself because i always kinda suspected a close member of my family was faking it..i thought they just used pain as an excuse. i dunno, but i hate it. i feel horrible for ever thinking that about them, i feel guilty. but enough about MY frame of mind.... last night my doc prescribed Norco for me, and said that it was the best he could do until he gets my MRIs and stuff from my last doc (who has lagged on mailing them, and who is in fact my EX doctor due to his inefficiency). he said that he mightve gone a different route, but as he doesnt have my records, he doesnt feel safe doing any procedures...i didnt argue...so he just gave me this bigass bottle of these Norcos, 90 of em, and told me to try to make em last till the 22nd. i mean, id TOTALLY rather have him be informed in his decisions when it comes to MY BODY, and not possibly doing something drastic when instead something minor is indicated by the symptoms.. so anyway, this Norco (for those of you who may not know) is the same stuff as vicodin (hydrocodone), but more of it per pill, coupled with less acetominophen(tylenol) per pill (10mg/325mg).....so he said that i could basically take as many as it takes to feel comfortable, up to 12 per day, because with the tylenol content being less than half, i wasnt in as much danger of negatively affecting my liver. as the vicodins were having ZERO effect, i was skeptical. but i ultimately took 4 of them last night and i felt SO INCREDIBLY better. i mean i still have pain, but it is reduced to the point where i feel 75% better. and ive been harassing my ex doc's office, calling them several times today and inquiring as to the status of my records...prolly wont hasten the process, but it sure makes me feel better ![]() yeah, but my docs been really cool about all this, i didnt have an appointment or anything, ive just been showing up and asking to be seen...i mean, im sure they could tell i was really in pain, but ive had docs in the past that were much less willing to help. even the receptionists and medical assistants have been really helpful and understanding, so i feel that ive lucked out and found good ones this time around...so very unlike my last doc and his employees..the change is like night and day...in fact, i could get used to this treatment! these pills are basically just to tide me over till my appointment in a few days, when he can actually sit down and examine my records (provided they arrive by that time) but i'll definitely ask him about some of that triamcolone for the swelling, he gave me 500mg naprosyns in the meantime...they dont work really well, but between them and the norcos i feel much better.

| Hi. Man I'm sorry about your knee. I've had a severed ACL and knee surgery and it hurts like H***. My doc, who uses says cannabinoids, biologically, are not really effective pain killers...that is they wouldn't work for moderate to severe pain. I think it just depends on an individual's pain tolerance. It may make you "not care" about your pain but as far as actual direct analgesic properties, his opinion is minor pain only...not anything as good as opiates or other narcotic analgesics... But hey...I say if it works for you, then go for it!!! It doesn't work for me on "moderate to severe" pain because I have a high tolerance to pain meds and a low pain threshold...but it does make me care less about the pain...LOL. Does that make sense? ![]()

| I definatly think it works as a pain killer on small pains. Not so much major problems.Well I'll just say I agree with what cat33 said. I have stomach problems and usually smoking helps when it hurts.I remember not having my meds for it and it was really hurting and I Smoked a nice bowl of kb and the pain was instantly gone. Same with headackes it usually helps with my headackes.I wouldn't really know about major injuries though. But I guess it's a small pain killer in my opinion maybe more like asprin over say percs or somthing.

| Every once in a while I will get this pain around the kidney/pancreas area. Im talking extreme pain here, sharp pain that makes me vomit all day long. Anyway, I have had this all my life and one time my friend convinced me to smoke while I had this pain and it defenitly helped take my mind off of it. It didn't really make it go away or anything though. It stopped the vomiting and allowed me to fall asleep easier. |

| Yes, cannabis is a pain killer but it is not an opiod specific pain killer. What that means basically is that the type of pain that can be minimized by taking opiod painkillers such as morphine, oxycontin, oxycodone, etc, will not be benefited by cannabis... But, pains that re resistant to treatment by the opiods ...certain back pains, "phantom pains", spasms, are highly effected in treatement by canabinoids. | |

| If I have a stomach ache or a headache, simply lighting up fixes that. And if I'm hungry, smoking a bowl makes it go away. |

| I wish I could find on the 'net the article I read. I had to find pretty much everything I could that had anti-inflammatory properties in it, because I am in prolotherapy, a ligament reconstruction process in which the purpose is to CAUSE inflammation (weird, I know, but it works). I'm not supposed to take advil, use ice, etc...no smoking-but I still do it, and am improving...though not necessarily recommended. I was told cannabis has anti-inflammatory properties by several physiatrists, and have read it once or twice websurfing. Anyone else know of this? I'm thinking cannabis help relieve pain from inflammatory disease/pain/injury. |

| I'll see what I can find for you... but just in is the latest quarterly report from our frioends at Pharmos...better living through cannabinoids: ...Pharmos discovers, develops, and commercializes novel therapeutics to treat a range of indications, in particular neurological and inflammation- based disorders. The Company's first neuroprotective product is dexanabinol, a tricyclic dextrocannabinoid, currently undergoing clinical testing as a treatment for TBI and as a preventive agent against post-surgical cognitive impairment. Other dextrocannabinoid compounds and selective CB2 receptor agonist compounds from Pharmos' proprietary synthetic cannabinoid library are being studied in pre-clinical programs targeting, pain, multiple sclerosis and other disorders. our freinds at Pharmos But remember boys and girls according to the US government, cannabis has no medical value whatsoever... yeah... ...right.... ...but these synthetic cannabinoids are just the ticket... tomorrow...Soylent Green, better then Soylent yellow! Okay, so some sour grapes. But here is where they get their patent. I guess it is a good thing to have the amounts and types categorized and pure. But for goodness saake. let us have at the god-given variety! Pharmos Corporation Receives Notice of Allowance for U.S. Patent | |
