*Note: I am aware that I am having panic attacks and that smoking cigarettes less, drinkining less caffeine, and that I should put myself in a relaxed environment could reduce the chances of having a panic attack. However, I am describing my attacks so that others can relate or possibly someone will figure out that they too are having panic attacks and it will help them deal with the symptoms.* History: I am 20 years old, I am a manager at an electronics retail store and I smoke every night after work. The first time I smoked I was 18 and had the loopy "Harold & Kumar" high. I then never smoked again until about 10 months ago. I have had the panic attacks four times and they have been within the past two months. First Attack: I was on the porch relaxing with my fiancé smoking a bowl or two in my acrylic water bong. I got crazy high and then smoked a cigarette. I went to stand up and go inside, as soon as I did I hit my head on a pair of shears that were hanging off the patio roof! I quickly "realized" that I was just stabbed in the skull with shears. My hands became very sweaty my heart began to race. My left arm became numb and my whole body began to shake and shiver. I rushed inside to have my fiancé check my head for puncture wounds / blood. The result is that there was a tiny bump that hurt like hell when touched. I laid down in the bed and was realizing that I was going to die. I could feel my entire brain was bleeding and that the shears had completely penetrated my skull and sliced my brain. My entire body was quivering and my heart was racing faster and faster. After 20 - 30 minutes and several skull checks for blood and my fiancé checking my heart rate I was able to calm down and finally just fell asleep. Second Time: I again had the same symptoms minus the head trauma. I had everyone in the house check my blood pressure because I knew that I was having a heart attack. Finally someone mentioned that I may be having a panic attack. Being curious and a geek I busted out my iPhone and started doing research on panic attacks and their symptoms. After reading and understanding that I was having an attack the whole thing subsided and I was just fine. Third Time: I had not smoked in 24 hours and I still had a very acute attack. I was shaking a little and my palms were sweaty. My left arm began to go numb and tingle. I knew just what to do. I grabbed my iPhone and started reading other peoples stories about their symptoms and it subsided. These attacks all happened within two weeks of eachother. Fourth Attack (today): I smoked more than my normal amount, and injured my right hand. When I went to sit into the lawn chair on my back patio I placed my left hand on the chair and my right hand caught my cup right between the pinky and ring finger. This hurt like an absolute bitch!! I continued obsessing about it for the I 5 - 10 minutes and agIng started having another panic attack. I was convinced that I had broken a blood vessel in my hand and that I was going to die from an aneurism. I finally had a friend who was there with me telling me to just chill and realise I'm having a panic attack. He had me lay down and listen to some bob Marley thanks to youtube and the iPhone. I soon was able to just relax. Its been about an hour since had the attack and I'm still high and chillin. I'm sitting in my bed, watching tv and writing this post on my iPhone. Again, I do understand that I am having panic attacks I just wanted to share my experiences so that others may learn or if anyone has sound advice about how to avoid these attacks I'm all ears. Thanks for reading! Stay high! Last edited by JustAlex4tw : 07-10-2008 at 02:28 AM.

There's usually not much you can do to avoid panic attacks. The best thing to do is learn to recognize the onset symptoms and try to calm yourself down before it gets out of hand. If you continue to have them--especially if they begin to happen more frequently-- you should talk to a doctor about going on an anti-anxiety medication. Xanax is especially effective; I had an attack earlier today, and after dissolving .25 milligrams under my tongue, I was back to normal in less than two minutes. I've never tried it with marijuana (I had to quit smoking because it was triggering the attacks), so I'm not sure how much it will help if you have an attack while high. Good luck!

Just a note to add. I have never had panic attacks unless I am under the influence of Weed. I am not taking any prescription medicine and I have never been diagnosed with any sort of medical phenomenon.
