Default Medical Marijuana and life insurance

Hey guys,

Since I'm new I'll introduce myself. I'm 18 years old and I live in SoCal. Last year I was diagnosed with depression, GAD (general anxiety), and Bi-polar. I've been like this for most of my life, I've never said anything because I thought all these feelings were normal.

Anyways, I was put on 30mg Pexeva (basically Paxil), 200mg Lamictal, and Ativan. I loved it at first because it was a quick relief. But after a while the side effects began to start taking a toll on my body. For one, I couldn't STAND the "zombie" effect and how everything looks like a dream. I would just go through days without any excitement or anything. Also, I would get very painful "brain-zaps". For some reason they're really bad for me, I would sometimes have to sit down before I would get too dizzy. There's a lot more side effects but its sort of irrelevant to this thread :P.

Anyways(again), I got off the pexeva and even with lamictal, which helps alot, most of my symptoms returned.

I'm thinking of pre-qualifying for medicinal marijuana, but I've heard that you can't get life insurance. I think it's bullshit, but can someone confirm before I head down this path?

Also what other disadvantages do you have with a liscense? I mean like does it screw with any other insurances, etc.

Thanks

I thought I heard that people were denied life insurance for their marijuana use, but I very well could be mistaken.

My caution to you would more concerned with the effect of marijuana on your bi-polar condition. I have read no studies nor have I heard of or seen any articles about the two together.

I was also diagnosed with depression several years ago but I took Welbutrin (the spelling may be off) for a couple of years. I was also seeing a shrink. I told him about an article that I read about how most people that are diagnosed with depression are simply Vitamin B deficient. Under his supervision I started pumping my body full of Vita B. I have been off of my medicine for years now without any more depression episodes. Will it do the same for you? I don't know but seeing how you've already had some of your returning symptoms, trying the Vita B under a doctor's supervision isn't going to hurt is it?

Send me a personal note and I'll tell you how I got rid of my depression b/c it's off topic of the board.

Dude... I totally, totally feel for you. The second I read "brain zaps" i had a bad flashback of my own experience with those horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE side effects. I got brain zaps after coming off lexapro. Worst feeling ever, and I've had kidney stones.

Anyways, as for your question, in California, it is all confidential... meaning unless I tell someone I am taking Marijuana, they won't know (doctors included).

Curious why you are thinking about life insurance so early?

Thank you, Buzzby. Now I remember where I read that people were being denied for life insurance, NORML. They also provided information to companies that would give life insurance to marijuana users.
