| Hey all. My bf and I recently smoked up and it was 2 days ago. Yesterday he still felt high and he still feels messed up today. I was wondering if it could be because of 1 of 2 things. Well one, he had taken one dose of Sudafed (which contains DXM) and I dunno if the two have a bad reaction together or if it can prolong the high or something? He's also on Zoloft, the anti-depressant. Has anyone heard anything about either of these combinations being dangerous? Why is the high lasting so long? Thanx in advance for your help.

| high for 2 days??? there is NO way. if he took sudafed in the normal quantity, not in the 'robotrip' kind of way, then its such a small ammount of dxm that even if dxm and marijuana weren't supposed to be consumed together it still wouldn't have that effect. i had a friend that was on zoloft, and when he smoked, he only had to smoke a VERY VERY little bit of weed and he would be sooo high, like drunk high, you could tell he was very ****ed up. but the length of his high didn't really change... no matter what you are taking, if you smoke weed its going to leave your system just as fast as if you weren't on anything. there is no way your high can last 2 days. well thats my opinion at least. maybe someone can prove me wrong...

| This is off topic, and will probably be closed. Sorry. While it's open, though, I can throw my 2 cents in. The amount of stuff in sudafed is insignificant. If he felt high for 2 days, it wasn't from the combination. Even when you take high third and fourth plateau doses along with weed, most people will feel fine by the next day.

| any interaction between marijuana and common doses of something as common as sudafed would probably be documented. has he taken MAO Inhibitors in the last two weeks?

| This isnt off topic at all. If the thread were something like 'how ****ed up will I get if I drink 3 bottles of cough syrup and smoke a joint' then yes, but its asking about common drug interactions. Let it be.

| It was probably the Zoloft if anything. That or his weed was laced with something else.

| Hello. Sudafed contains Pseudophedrine hydrocloride. No Dextromethomorphan and the half-life would not allow for this. He probably made his immune system depressed enough to make him feel sh**ty er I mean,...high. Sounds like a hoot. Edit; Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Does Sudafed make a cough syrup?

| Here's a hint: Sudafed ...was taken because he was feeling SICK.... He is STILL feeling sick.... It's not the weed.... He is SICK...and probably dehydrated too. Have some chicken soup and take a day or two of rest.... By the way, Zoloft would not cause this effect though over the long run it has been shown to compromise thyroid function, although thyroid function tests will show normal T4 and T3 counts. Just a heads up. Mama Budz and this Thread is Closed | |
