I happen go through weed very slowly. a half 8th lasts me forever because i smoke twice a week only. The weed I have now, strongest smelling scent I ever had. it stunk up my entire apartment. That was maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago. Now, the odor is not as strong anymore. It is way less intense. SO when the odor starts fading, what does this indicate?

My educated-guess is that as it dries and loses moisture, the odor decreases (just like when those scented jellies dry up and stop smelling).

Although, you can always bring in a friend who hasn't been to your place in a while to smell... It could very well be the fact that you have just gotten used to the smell... the same way you stop smelling your cologne fairly shortly after applying it might be what's going on here.

In a nut shell, your scent receptors in your nose--when overpowered by the same consistent odor--start to block-out those odors (which helps clear the air of interference with your sniffer)

If you are not keeping it in an air tight container, air is getting to it, which is a bad thing. That could be a reason why it's smelling less potent too.

Haha, I'm pretty sure he's talking about the smell of the buds, not the lingering smell of weed smoke.

Yes, I know.
He had said it stunk up his apartment, and it was 3 to 4 weeks ago. But he also said the weed he had now. So I didn't know if he still had it or he did have it. So, I just assumed it was gone now.
I was wrong obviously. But yeah, its probably the whole he is used to it now thing.

Try placing an edibal flower petal or small leaf into the bag, one that would give the bud good flavor, like rose, or sweet pea...let the petal sit overnight in a zip lock bag. By morning, your buds will have re-moisturized, and you can eat the petal. If you don't want to flavor your bud, a small piece of lettuce works.

Odor is a matter of volatile molecules escaping into the air. As time passes, most of these volatile materials have already evaporated and there's not enough left to produce the same level of aroma.

and thanks for all the responses guys. There seems to be some confusion. I am talking about the actual buds. The smell just is not as strong.

I am more concerned with potency than anything. I have some really damn good weed, and just do not want it to get wasted.


i have it in a ziplock bag, and try to squeeze as much air out as possible. maybe i should look into getting a "mason Jar" as i have seen that term thrown around quite a bit
