ny name is kyle im 15 years old i live in corona which is in southern california im going to see a phsychiatrist today 4 the problems i have been having i am constantly depressed wen i wake up in the morning ill get myself all full of anxiety and stress i vomit and i have smoked pot on and off 4 the past 2 years and pot is the only thing that has ever calmed me down and put me 2 ease i would really appreciate any advice i can get on this matter thank you please reply speedy

I don't think a Psychiatrist can prescribe medical marijuana for psychiatric disorders in California, but someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Even if they can, I imagine the parents of a minor would have to grant permission as well.

1. you don't get prescribed marijuana, you get a recommendation
2. you're under 18, which means its up to your parents no matter what
3. unless you have a really awesome doctor, I doubt they would give you such a recommendation.
4. If you try to tell the doctor that you use marijuana to help with your anxiety, or even hint that you are a marijuana user, you risk having the put "substance abuse" in your chart, which is never fun.

The first step you need to take is talking to your parents about all of this.

If you can't do that, then it is pointless to talk to your doctor, because like I said in the end it is up to your parents.

Even the quack doctors that just want your money and couldn't care less if you're sick will not give you an MJ card if you're underage. Thats just asking for trouble.

Are you saying that based on actual knowledge of the laws, or are you just assuming?

Personally, I am only familiar with california's laws, which yea... no minors whatsoever... but I'm not sure if any of the other states have any exemption for minors with parental consent.

It may be very possible in other states with more stern restrictions on what conditions can get recommended marijuana and which can not.

I'm afraid that you're wrong about that. There is nothing in the CA law restricting medical marijuana recommendations for minors. It just requires parental consent.

Here is a story about some CA parents who acquired a medical marijuana recommendation for their son, who was suffering from the side-effects of chemotherapy.

I live in colorado and medical marijuana is accesible to minors as well as adults. You have to have parents consent and a note from two doctors, and im guessing its harder to convince your doctor if your a minor, nevermind trying two, unless you really need it like the kid in CA.
