ok... well hi there cheaptalk. i'm a member across the road over there at hc.com, so i figured i'd come here to see if i can get an answer to my little problem.

it all started about 5 months ago. i was home for the summer, and my weed consumption dropped drastically. i was only smokin about 2-3 times a week (previous to that it was 2-3 times a day). so after a couple weeks home + smoking i was fine. everything was normal. then one day..... i was smokina t a buddies and i got this terriable head pain. kinda felt like what i think gettin hit by lightning would feel like. a sharp, fast pain in my head like some one just stabbed me with a hellova large knife. anyway, i was a little worried and acted kinda strange the rest of the night. after that it seemed that i had these reoccuring head aches, not normal ones, slightly different, they lingered. i'm not one to get a head ache or am i one to pop a tylonal. so anyway this kinda scared me so i went to the hospital. got some tests done, got a CAT scan, and a lumbar pucture to make sure my brian wasn't bleeding. all came up negative....

fast forward to the last couple months... well i all but gave up weed till i was finished my grow. in that three months (oct till now) i maybe smoked 15 or so times... but now something is still wrong...

i smoke and i get a hellove a heart beat. i can practically feel it pounding outta my cheast. i don't get the same stabbing head pain, but i do get what i can only describe a head pain. it feels like when i smoke, my brain enlarges and pushes on my skull. it feels tight and very uncomfortable. i find myself hording water, and getting up and down, up and down... i miss howi used to feel when i got high. i could do anyting and everything, now, i'm kinda reluctant to smoke, and when i decide to... i feel kinda uncomfortable...

what can, or should i do. i took time off. there were about 3 different periods where i went like 3 weeks withough weed. i just want to get back to how i always felt. i just harvested 3 beautyful white widows, and i would like to enjoy them.

What you experienced with the sharp headache sounds like a migraine, and based on the work you did with the doctors to rule out other causes; or possibly a sinus infection...your sinuses run deep into your head.

Migraines can be a triggerede by many things including allergies, as can sinus attacks.

Preventing them and treating them when they occur is a lot more than I can cover in a post but a search of Migrain Headaches on Google or Yahoo search should find a lot of information for you.

The heart beat increase and feelings you describe now sound more like the reaction to a highly sativa genotype in your grow. These responses tend to occur more often when the cannabis hybrid being grown is more similar to a sativa and less to an indica. If you have not harvested it all, allow it to reach more maturity, that will dull some of the "haze" quality with increased CBD and CBN as the trichomes of THC degrade into other cannabinoids with more of a sedative couch lock quality. Curious how long you have ben in flowering before harvest? And the phenoptype (shape ) of the leaves -- was it a long flowering and thinner leaves of a sativa or is this a real "Stealth Sativa" hiding in a lush Indica's growth?

Read my mind I was just about to say the same thing about how you problably are smoking a heavy Sativa strain, unlike the Indica version which is more of a "stoned, stoner, out like a rock" type of high, whereas a Sativa tends to be a very small amount of the body high (where you feel like you are stuck to the couch), and more of the head high (you feel like your body isn't there or not part of you, your heart feels like it's beating really fast and hard, your head feels likes your brain is pushing up against it, like you've been wearing a hat really tight, it's a very clear high in the head). An Indica high is a "stupid" high, meaning you tend to be more clumsy, more people prefer this high, it's more narcotic in terms of the effects. Then again, a lot of people (like me) LOVE a good Sativa high versus an Indica high. Why? I just feel like I can get stuff done, as where an Indica high makes me want to sit and watch TV and grub down). Reason being is the CBD/CBN to THC ratios, makes for different effects.

.... well... i can see where your both comming from and i will add a little more information for ya'll. the stabbing pains only seems to linger for a couple seconds. but i can feel the effects after, just not as bad. migraines run on my moms side of the family.

now sometimes i get a head pain after i smoke. but i think this is more when i start thinking about it. thinking about my heart rate, thinkin about my head... then bam.. i'm like completly imopbilized and my thoughts take a turn for teh worse which i think make it worse.

as for the recent grow. i have only had a couple of samples of it. the pheno type is white widow from dutch passion. its mostly indica, the reason i picked it was because it doesn't give yout eh uppidy high. with that said, i had to unfortunatly harvest early, after only 6.5 weeks of flowering. i was planning on going 9 to get the tch degradaded and get more of the cbn/cbd. but alass this was not an option due to some family visiting over xmas. they were all cut on the 21st. the light cycle was shortened to about 8/14 to help speed up the production and possibly get them to finish sooner.

now this brings me back to teh start. all this started happening after the initial lightning bolt day. and never before that day. it seems that particular day was a turning day, where it all seemed to turn. so what can i do to combat this. i mean i never had a problem with sativas before, so why would i be having a problem with a mainly indica? and for that matter, any other purchased bad weed?

I wouldn't say that I'm qualified to answer this, since I have never smoked before (though I want to try).. but to me it sounds like the typical paranoia you can get with the high. You start thinking, subconsciously or not, "man, I'm gonna get stabbing pains in my head again," and sure enough, your brain makes sure that comes true. The paranoia could probably also be the cause of your elevated heart rate. Although I wouldn't rule out the possiblity of developing migraines, so I think you should definately ask your doctor about that. Those are not fun to deal with, especially if you let it go untreated.

I don't think there is a "typical paranoia" though. I happen to like sativa highs, and don't find those effects scary. When I first started smoking I would get paranoid, but not any more.

The way I understand it, if you're worried about something when you smoke, the high will intensify that worry. That's what I meant by "typical" paranoia, not that it happens regularly, or often. Sorry for the confusion.

Though even if it is his worry being magnified, I'd still see a doctor. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the brain actually giving itself migraines just by pure will (though he did say his mother's side of the family had them too).

Hey skitz...

I'd "cocktail" your WW with something else ....meaning mix it with something less potent when you smoke to calm the sativa effect...

As for the migraines, there are a number of medications on the market that are highly efective...but are prescription so you will need to see your doctor.

You might also think about eating or drinking cannabis as it will not cause the same almost instantaneous blood vessel dilation that smoking does which might trigger another migraine or headache. Also the smoke is an irritant that will do the same.

Smoking through a bong/waterpipe so the inhaled smoke is not superheated should also help.

It is also quite possible that your use of marijuana has helped eleviate more severe migraine symptoms without your being aware of this. There are current studies of huge amounts of anecdotal evidence of people who use marijuana as an adjunct to treatment for migraines....so I would also suggest that you do not stop using marijuana.

Do see a doctor though as not all migraines can be controlled this way...if your doctor is against MJ use...find another doctor! Since this is the filed of pain relief, most should be up to date with the newest findings of the uses of medical MJ.

.... i have yet to visit an MD, but i will in due time. just not pheasable the last couple of weeks. well i have been smoking regularly again. once a day for the past week or so. i have really cut down. i always use a glass piece, although the ocasional joint has entered into my mouth now and again.

well this is the thing, its still happening. i mean the pain in the head is not bad at all. its kinda a tightening, like i said before, it feels like my brain is pushing aggainst my skull. sorry for the graphic description, but thats what it feels like. its weird. sometimes its not to bad at all. just get kinda stoned and uncomfortable, reassuring myself that mj can't hurt me, although it seems to be.. sorta.

other times, its bad. its not so much the head pain, its the elivated heard rate. and i mean elivated 160 bpm. that was yesterday. i could literally feel my heart pounding. it sucked. but then the day before it was fine. about 120-130 bpm (which is pretty typical cuz i got my gf to take hers)

as for the migranes... i donno if this is it. i'm not really up to speed on what they really are, but arn't they severe headachs that last like a couple of hours or days? this is just during the effects of marijuana, what i mean by that, is the symptoms that i feel (the pressure, the elivated heart rate, the parinois) starts after a toke and ends an hour or so later.

so..... does this mean that my favorite relaxing hobby (both growing and smoking) are in jepardy? this is not really something i am prepared to accept. i mean, everyone that i know and read can smoke what i love, but ME! man.. that would be the ultimate bummer.

i know one thing for sure, i am gonna get healthier. no more smoking (the off topic kind), i'm gonna start to go to the gym 5 days a week and eat better. my goal is to lose 100 lbs by christmas. then i know my health will be in check and this thing can hopefully be figured out. a visit to the dr. is what i am for sure gonna do in the short term, only problem is it has to be a clinic, as i have no regular doctor. (i just moved cross country 6 months ago) so....

anymore thoughts? comments? concerns?

if the answer is really truly to give up my weed, then i am gonna be the most generous friend anyone has ever seen, because i'll be damned if i give up growing!
