I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday, and was wondering if smoking out of a pipe would be OK? (I'm not allowed to use joints or straws as it could cause a 'dry socket'). I was also thinking of making a waterfall or iron lung, or maybe even a gravity bong, as I will be having the house all to myself this week 'cuz I'm off school :P

I had my wisdom teeth taken out 2 summers ago and smoking anything was pretty much the last thing I wanted to do. I gave up cigs for at least a good week. The first J I smoked after the removal was about 4 or 5 days after and even then I wasn't completely comfortable. I had to pull super lightly and super slowly. I wouldn't have even smoked had my friends not been back in town for that one weekend only.

But you can decide for yourself when you'd feel comfortable smoking again. As for pipes and bongs, I can't say I can comment on that first-hand, but I'd imagine it would be the easiest way to get business done. You're not really sucking, more inhaling so there's a bit of a difference there.

The reason they tell you not to smoke though, is not just because of dry sockets. It's also because of infections that might happen. Personally, I'd say just wait till it heals, but I can't decide anything for you. Just use discretion!
