hey I was wondering if it is harmful in anyway to use marijuana while on anti-depressants. My mom made me go to a shrink and they were telling me about how I cant smoke anymore, but i find that bull****. Cuz she really didnt sound like she knew what she was talking about. She was giving me nonsense about how "marijuana high" only lasts a few minutes and how you feel worse when you come down.. I think she was mistaking weed for crack.

id personally be more worried about taking a mind altering addictive chemical with over 50 side effects thats been around for about 40 years with noone knowing the full effects of it...rather then a natural non addictive herb with few side effects and hasn't killed one person in 4000 years...but thats just me and today's society is a drugged up one...too bad they pick the wrong ones.

That is true, for certain types of antidepressants, but the shrink told me that there have been so many new developments of medicines to "cure" depression. She said that newer medicines being used are non habit forming, with no long term side effects. She said the only side effects I could get would wear off in 2 weeks. But i still need to know if smoking is safe w/antidepressants.....

which anti-depressant is it? it would be hard to answer you without knowing which one your talking about.

Im not sure what they are going to give me. Ill let you know when I find out. All I know is that they heavily recommended prescribing me on antidepressants.

she was prompted to take me to the shrink after she asked me twice to quit weed... didnt i say i find it to be bull****, cuz it is.

i've actually taken several different types of antidepressants over the past 7 years. if you stick with the medicines, mj will affect the potency of the medicine. my experience is that the SSRI's (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, like prozac or celexa) stop working when i smoke heavily. however, i've responded poorly to every antidepressant i've taken, and sometimes the side effects are just too powerful for me. but i've found that mj is the best antidepressant of all, for me at least. there are no insane side effects, and just a hit or 2 of some good bud (i can only smoke good bud, schwag just gives me a headache n makes me feel generally icky) makes me feel the way i want: rational, not depressed. when i'm kinda high, i don't look at small obstacles as a cataclysmic (sp) events like i do when i'm depressed, i can actually think of solutions to the obstacle and get over it. maybe i'm weird (i probably am), but them's is just my thoughts.
