Is it dangerous to smoke herbs when your taking pain killers like (vykedin) sorry don't know how to spell it. I got into a fight with my bro and sprained my ankle that's why I"m taking it.

There are no dangerous interactions between marijuana and Vicodin(hydrocodone). How is it that you are taking the medication, yet you do not know how to spell it? Seeing as it is on the bottle...

This is off topic, so it will be closed. And comments could be made about your relationship with your brother if you're fighting hard enough to hurt eachother that much.

That said, there isn't a real problem with the interactions between the two. Just don't take a large dose of either, and you'll be fine.

I've done this many times, it won't kill you but it's not safe at all. I had my stomach pumped cause I took too many vicodin, I'm a dumbass. Just smoke some herb.

One of the exceptions where discussing an "off-topic" is here in this forum; and this is one of the times that exception is made.

As pointed out, vicodin and cannabis do not have an negative interaction.

Vicodin is an opiod medication and as such is actually made more effective by the addition of cannabis, therefore, you should take less vicodin than prescribed to reach the same level of relief.

This is extremely imporatant as vicodin, as all opiods, is narcotic and addictive, meaning you will build up a tolerance to its effects adn require a greater amount of opiod to reach the same level of relief, and you will suffer more pain if you run out of medication and stop it "cold turkey".

The most effective plan would therefore be to lower the amoutn of vicodin you are taking to the minimum dosage and imbibe cannabis within 20 minutes so that both medications are in your blood stream at the same time, the cannabis increasing the effectiveness of the opiod.

Do not do something stupid like take a high dose of vicodin and smoke cannabis. You will not enjoy coming off that high...and your doctor will be very curious why you used up all your painkillers in such a short time and will NOT refill your script.

Vicodin is a deadly drug. We don't want you dead...

Mama's right... and, while Vicodin is *potentially* dangerous... it isn't too strong of an opioid analgesic, at least comparatively... in fact, I think the acetominophen content of Vicodin and similar painkillers is more detrimental, physically (to the liver) than is the hydrocodone itself.

And good point about having to take less of it when combined with pot - that very fact could save you money and medicine.

Just curious as to why off topic is allowed in this forum? Is it because you would rather people be safe and get answers than not be allowed to ask and suffer potentially fatal effects?

And the discussion is usually centered on a doctor prescribed medication not street drugs.

I can't advise on street drugs and they are strictly off topic because they are not standardized and quality controlled. You don't really know what is in them despite being told what they are or where they are made. Street Drugs pass through too many different hands to be assured of quality, purity or standardization.

Marijuana, cannabis, has no historical proof of overdose from smoking or eating that has been substantiated. With new pharmaceuticals being marketed every day, its enough to keep on the cutting edge of any interactions and contraindications to cannabis. And these are controlled quality, purity and standardized medications.


This part of the MJ.com site is also about the uses of Cannabis for treating ailments and disease and the pros/cons of Marijauna as a solo treatment or in concert with other medications so again, since we cross the barrier of "off topic" drugs in the purpose of this Forum, there is some discussion allowed.
