| Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and also pretty new to forums and all so I apologize if I posted this in the wrong section. Here's my problem: I started smoking 8-9 months ago and have never had any pain/discomfort until recently. A few weeks ago I ran dry and stopped smoking for about a week and prior to that I had been smoking pretty heavily for myself. When I finally got some I was ready to blaze, but I had to weigh it out and seperate the bud from the already ground stuff (weed isn't that great where I live). So this made me fiddle around with it with my face over it for a good 10-15 minutes, I didn't feel anything until a couple minutes BEFORE I smoked. At first it was a dull achy feeling, and seeing as I've had a heart murmur as long as I can remember I thought it would just pass. So I lit up and it started off good, but then the chest pain started to get worse and since it was my first time ever feeling this chest pain I was pretty much scared to death so I layed down and waited it out. Eventually it went away but not completely. I kept smoking a few days after that to the same result, I really shouldn't have but my life is pretty dull and I don't have much to do. Every time after wasn't as extreme as the first time but it still was pretty sharp. I went to 2 different doctors and one gave me an EKG, they said my lungs were perfectly healthy and so was my heart. The other (more thorough) doctor gave me an Xray, they didn't see anything and he thought it was a pinched nerve so he gave me a weeks worth of Loxonin (pain killer) and some Vitamin B12. The painkillers really helped and I could even smoke a small amount while taking them. I took the last of the painkillers a day or two ago and the pain still comes back slightly even though I haven't smoked in 4 days. I want to smoke, but I'm afraid to. I don't think taking pain killers for a long term is a good idea especially when I mix it up with pot. Do you guys think it could be the type of stuff I have or something to do with weed in general? Some additional stuff:I'm 15, male and I'm 100lbs or so and I'm pretty lanky. I've only ever taken one drag from a cig, I didn't like it and I never will. Also I don't drink, at all. Sorry I made this post so long but I feel like I need to explain as much as I can for a better response. Thanks for any responses -morgan |

| Is the pain in deep (more then a couple inches) or is it closer to the skin/ribs. I used to get chest pain all the time, it was due to inflammation between my ribs. Might be the same thing for you and the doctors say your healthy. |

| Most of the time it's closer to the ribs, today it was right on them but that was probably a growing pain. Did your pain just go away eventually or did you have to get something done? Also, the drug that the doctor gave me is an anti-inflammitory drug. I thought it was a pain killer, so you're probably right. |

| It sounds like you may have gotten chest pain and psyched yourself into thinking it was worse than it really was. Do you get chest pain when exercising or doing strenuous activity? If not I doubt it's anything actually related to your heart. Weed has an anxiety component that seems, for me anyways, to freely allow your fears or worries to manifest themselves. I convinced myself I was having a heart attack one time because I checked my pulse and it was elevated (which is usual with Marijuana). That got me even more scared so my heart raced faster... thus a panic attack. It sounds like you went through a similar situation. I recommend that if this continues, to take a very long break and come back to it. If you continue, try to just take your mind off it by doing an activity that keeps your mind occupied. |

I can't remember ever having this bad of a chest pain until I smoked this stuff. The same exact thing happens to me though. If I get one little pain inside my body while I'm stoned I start to get scared, but I hardly ever get pains that I don't know what they are. But why is this happening now after smoking for 8-9 months? I don't get it. I have been paranoid my entire life though and I've never felt this pain before so it really scared the hell out of me the first time. Thanks for the advice too, I'm taking 2-5 day breaks inbetween smokes now as opposed to almost every day. I also play games on the computer to get my mind off of it and it really helps. | |

| You said you're smoking some really low quality marijuana, right? If so, I'd suggest trying to get better quality because obviously the high will be better and more enjoyable without all the pain, I'd guess. If that isn't an option, have you considered the way you smoke marijuana to be a factor? If you're using a bong, you may be torching the weed too much and causing harsh hits on your lungs. The pain could be from that as I've had a pretty harsh hit from a bong and my throat hurt for a good hour or so until I ate some ice cream. Also, try to remember to breath in some good oxygen with your hits. You don't want to cause a lack of oxygen to your brain. Lastly, if it's possible, smoke your marijuana over a longer duration and let the high creep up on you. Don't try to down 2-3 bowls by yourself in 1 shot, or smoke a whole blunt to yourself asap.

| I agree with cb007sax, you're probably just psyching yourself out. Weed can do some pretty crazy stuff to you, if you let it..
