Default Help! I need hard proof Medical Marijuana is legal in California...

So I know we here as a community understand medical marijuana is legal in several states. However, my grandparents are convinced that my medical use of marijuana is still 100% illegal in the eyes of the government.

I need an article, a youtube clip, something, anything, that directly contradicts that belief.. hard evidence that my use of cannabis is legitimate as a medicine in the eyes of California.

I have a Medical MJ card for Insomnia. Apparently that's not enough for them. They are stuck in this belief that i'm gonna get thrown in the slammer and all of my "friends" are coming with me when the feds come bust down my door.

"It's still illegal." is all they say.

I think that's a bit hypocritical considering that my grandparents have me download movies for them like Horton hears a who and Rambo, and that's hella illegal (which they know and request anyway), the gramps "borrows" software from his work and installs it on the computers at home, yet to them my MJ use is an abomination.
Hell I'm way more likely to get busted for having downloaded the Sims 2 than for smoking in my own home while having this MJ card. WTF!

Help me prove them wrong!

SB 420 Senate Bill - CHAPTERED

But they are correct in that "the feds" (meaning on a federal level), it is still illegal.

I need proof that medical users will not be prosecuted for their use.. that bill doesn't say anything explicitly. My grandmother is convinced, her exact words.. that "just because they stopped raids on the medical dispensaries doesn't mean its OK for medical users to use marijuana".
Which is in complete contradiction to what she also says "Its OK for cancer patients to use it."

I showed her this article and she says that doesn't mean anything.

Default From the California Health and Safety Code

11362.5. (a) This section shall be known and may be cited as the
Compassionate Use Act of 1996.
(b) (1) The people of the State of California hereby find and
declare that the purposes of the Compassionate Use Act of 1996 are as
follows:
(A) To ensure that seriously ill Californians have the right to
obtain and use marijuana for medical purposes where that medical use
is deemed appropriate and has been recommended by a physician who has
determined that the person's health would benefit from the use of
marijuana in the treatment of cancer, anorexia, AIDS, chronic pain,
spasticity, glaucoma, arthritis, migraine, or any other illness for
which marijuana provides relief.
(B) To ensure that patients and their primary caregivers who
obtain and use marijuana for medical purposes upon the recommendation
of a physician are not subject to criminal prosecution or sanction.

(C) To encourage the federal and state governments to implement a
plan to provide for the safe and affordable distribution of marijuana
to all patients in medical need of marijuana.
(2) Nothing in this section shall be construed to supersede
legislation prohibiting persons from engaging in conduct that
endangers others, nor to condone the diversion of marijuana for
nonmedical purposes.
(c) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no physician in
this state shall be punished, or denied any right or privilege, for
having recommended marijuana to a patient for medical purposes.
(d) Section 11357, relating to the possession of marijuana, and
Section 11358, relating to the cultivation of marijuana, shall not
apply to a patient, or to a patient's primary caregiver, who
possesses or cultivates marijuana for the personal medical purposes
of the patient upon the written or oral recommendation or approval of
a physician.

(e) For the purposes of this section, "primary caregiver" means
the individual designated by the person exempted under this section
who has consistently assumed responsibility for the housing, health,
or safety of that person.

I read the bill.. however.. she still believes it's not good enough. She says its still "Against federal law to use medical marijuana" (and yet still thinks its OK if you have cancer.. what's the difference, we're both medical users!)

Tell me this isn't explicit enough:

U.S. to yield marijuana jurisdiction to states

"...President Obama - who as a candidate said states should be allowed to make their own rules on medical marijuana..."
...
"What the president said during the campaign, you'll be surprised to know, will be consistent with what we'll be doing here in law enforcement," he said. "What he said during the campaign is now American policy."

Is that not right out saying that feds will NO LONGER interfere with california medical users of marijuana so long as they are obeying the state law? Is it not?

That's not a change in federal law. It's simply a change in LE practices and can be changed back at a Presidential whim.

It is, but it's still illegal under federal law. They just won't enforce that law under certain circumstances and can change their minds about it at any time.

You should watch with them Super High Me

I'm not from California, im not even from USA lol, I'm from Quebec and here it is legal on a similar level and so I wanted to learn about the way Californa turned since they got medical marijuana a couple of years before us.

The movie is funy and explain all the federal vs state laws and everything about it, and the movie is worth the watch anyway since its realy good and funny
