| Hello folks, I am nearing 50, happily married w/children and looking strong and young. I've been browsing this forum for some time now and decided to pitch in with my concerns and suggestions and hopefully expect some thoughtful responses. In the last 10 years, I've tried a few puffs of marijuana only a couple of times which gave me chills and decided to let go. Perhaps I wasn't used to it or just not ready to take up on such narcotics. For many years now, I have medical problems such as backache, asthma, chronic sinus, bronchitis (perhaps emphysema - awaiting lab results) and liver calcification. Thanks to my smoking and alcohol habits. But here's the thnig though and relevantly my concern. I've tried several doctor prescribed FDA approved and over-the-counter medications for most of my problems stated above but none seem to have worked and the problems persist. Very recently I met a couple of "potheads" (no offense intended) who recommended me to try smoking small quantities of pot (few puffs perhaps) at least once every two to three days or twice a week and see the results. They also warned me not to use it every day, nor smoke in higher quantities and never as daily social entertainment. I was kinda shocked to hear marijuana's such remedial properties (if factually true) but I am still unsure and slightly hesitant. My question is that are there any concrete evidence as such or has anyone having similar medical problems experienced themsleves towards any positive affects? Any other concerns and/or suggestions from the experienced here will be apprciated. Thanks. |

| As far as the asthma thing goes, I can tell you that it makes me feel alot better. THC actually opens up your airways, so it really does have a medicinal property for that (seems like it'd be the other way around right?). As far as the backache, smoking usually makes me feel alot more relaxed and my pain goes away. Maybe just try a couple puffs every now and then and see how you feel. Keep us updated!

| I have had asthma since I was a little kid. I used to get severe attacks because of it, but when I started smoking ganja it did go away. It sounds to me like the effects of smoking marijuana is what gave you the chills, you should try cooking it up or making tea. That'll give your body more of a high then going straight to your head. ![]() |

| I have chronic back issues and the marijuana definately helps with the pain, an indica dominant variety works best for back pain. As for your asthma, you may want to invest in a vaporizer, as thc does help with those conditions, but the smoke does not. Vaporizing is the process of inhaling non-combusted thc vapor (kinda like steam) and does not aggravate your respiratory system. Welcome to the forums! Look around, you are sure to find the answers that you are looking for.

| i have adult hip dysplasia, but even though there is nothing that cannabis can cure for me, it does make the pain go away. the funny part is, we know all this amazing stuff about the medicinal properties of cannabis, and i dont think we even scraped the top yet. there are millions upon millions this could help. |

| Okay folks, thanks a lot for your generous and supportive replies. Like "Timecow" mentioned, I believe too, that I can only give it an honest try and see the results for myself. I believe only then, I can spurt the truth out as per my own perspectives and in my own settings. I know someone (an acquaintence only) who uses it and will request to sell me some. One of my neighbor uses it too I'm certain but hesitant to ask for personal, family and neighborly reasons. The problem is, I am totally naive/ignorant of quality, type, quantity and price. Can someone enlighten me as to what to look for so that I may not be duped in purchasing the wrong stuff at the wrong price, quantity and quality (if there's a way to tell or figure out) and later regret. Vivid pics would be much appreciated. BTW, what's the difference(s) between medicinal MJ and street MJ? I hope to get some and try it out tomorrow (Saturday) night and shall update of my experience (its been several years since I last had just a few puffs and chilled out). Thank you all, much obliged. | I plan to do just that. I've learnt that exaggerations, overly confident, and excessiveness in anything brings trouble. Wisdom is the key....that's why we have brains to reason, eyes to vision and ears to listen. Thank you for pointing towards "moderation" (little bits). |
