Default Medical strains and their uses

The list started off at NORML and then was posted on another cannabis board and was fleshed out from there. Thought it might be helpful for medicinal users.

For muscle (including muscle-related back) pain, indicas are preferable, while for pain associated with nerve damage/degeneration, sativas are effective.

According to anecdotal evidence, the Indica strains are a relaxant, effective for anxiety, pain, nausea, appetite stimulation, sleep, muscle spasms and tremors, among other symptoms. The Sativa strains are more of a stimulant, effective in appetite stimulation, relieving depression, migraines, pain and nausea. We are now aware of specific strains that are effective for specific conditions and symptoms.

Thanks mate, that's awesome. Very interesting to be able to relate the name of a strain to how it can be used as a medicine.

Default Personal Experience

I keep a pretty close eye on what strains I use on a daily basis and while I found nearly all of this to be accurate, I noted one discrepancy based on my own personal experience. For me, any type of skunk produces anxiety attacks and a has also induced fainting. I believe its due to my heart condition which involves my adrenal gland and my vagal nerve being overactive and overcompensating respectively. I wondered if anyone else had a problem with skunk or any other specific strain? Or if anyone could shed some light on why my condition is affected by what strains I smoke.

Strawberry Cough is amazing!
It's the clearest high I've ever had. Incredible stuff.

I was looking at the strains specific to chron's disease, and I can't seem to find any information online about Auntie Em, and Blue fruit. I was wondering does anyone know where they have gotten this strain, or where you can get seeds for it? I was able to find some info on Dynamite.

thanks.

I am going to give Strawberry cough a go while in Amsterdam. A clear head high is what I prefer but don't ever get a choice round here.

Give Northern Lights a try, it seems to treat depression and anxiety, but, i'm not sure what affects this strain may exclusivly have on ADHD, i was looking at that one too, i'll have to try it and see if it may also help insomnia and headaches

O, and FenceWalker, thank you so much for this list it's really helpful
