Okay, I've been sick as a motherfucker the past 5 days (since thursday). I thought I had strep but the doctors did tests and said it wasnt so I'm not sure what it is at the moment. And I could rant about how stupid my doctors are but thats a whole other post...

Anyway, I've had this constant mucus that's been 'dripping' from my nose into my throat and it's causing some problems...
1) irritating my throat
2) making it hard to swollow

so what i've been doing is hacking it up and spitting it out - not the best thing to do but it's easier than trying to swollow the nasty shit.

Now, my question is does anyone know of a simple homemade recipe that will get rid of this mucus? My mom insists that I keep taking Mucus Relief which is an Expectorant. The fact is that shit has practically no effect on it whatsoever because it's not in my lungs and im not coughing it up... I just need something to get rid of this so I can sleep. I've gotten maybe 8 hours of sleep in the past 5 days because of this terrible throat/neck pain and because every 5 seconds i have to hack up a lugi and spit it into a garbage can or kleenex or sink...and quite frankly it's driving me insane, every night I just toss and turn in pain and discomfort so please help me get rid of this mucus, and if you have any reccomendations on how I can relieve my neck pain that would be greatly appreciated as well (i went to the doctor and had told her that ibuprofen and acetominophin etc. was not working at all and what does she do? Prescribe me more ibuprofin - Motrin 600. I take four 200mg ibuprofen just for a headache, 600 mg isnt gonna do shit)

All reccomendations are greatly appreciated because I really need to get some sleep and just need some relief from this hell...

Edit: In fact, do you think MJ might help with the mucus or neck pain? I know it will just irriate my throat but I figure if I put plenty of ice in my bong it will reduce irritating to a minimum.

It's not homemade but have you tried that Mucinex? I never have but they must be advertising right because I immediately thought of those little mucus guys that move into your head.
