Default Medicine and Medical Marijuana

Hi everyone, I wanted to pose a very simple question and am looking for your feedback on this question.

My question is this: If Cannabis is an "illegal" drug, how is it possible that a certain group of people are allowed access to it while the rest of society is considered criminal for using it?

I am not trying to minimize the impact of a terminal disease on an individual or their right to natural forms of medication, but, how come you if you have a terminal disease you can get Cannabis and otherwise you can't (without being a criminal?).

Furthermore, isn't it a bit biast to give terminal paitents cannabis yet deny it to someone who is in another form of pain, possibly from a disease that does not qualify that person for medicinal marijuana.

Shouldn't I have the same rights as the terminal paitent? If I have a headache and want to use a natural remedy shouldn't I be allowed? If I have migranes, or irritable bowel syndrome or crones shouldn't I be able to relieve my pain without the use of pharmacuticals?

Why do I have to be terminal to be legally allowed to use cannabis?

You cant legally do morphine either, so what's your point?

Medical Marijuana and marijuana legalization are two separate issues. Put down the bong and try to wrap your head around that.

You don't have to be terminal in most places that allow it, you have to have a chronic condition, meaning incurable, that marijuana has proved to alleviate. Because those with chronic condition need pot to try to live a normal life and you only need pot to get a buzz.

Well first of Morphine is processed, its not 100% natural like the medical cannabis or home grown cannabis; so that's not a fair argument.

Second, don't insult me or insinuate that I am an unintelligent "stoner". I enjoy cannabis recreationally but I also use it to treat almost all of my ailments and it WORKS. I have a screwed up back and shoulder and I refuse to take “drugs” that only provide temporary relief but cause major organ damage (Tylenol, Alleve..etc). I know people with IBS, mild arthritis and other "non terminal" ailments; they are not "permitted" to use Medical Cannabis to treat these issues and have to either use pharmaceuticals (with horrendous side effects) or go the "criminal" route and source their own Cannabis.

In Alberta or Canada they are so strict with the Medical Marijuana applicants that you almost have to be a human guinea pig and try all different types of drugs before they will give you a prescription... it should be the other way around and should be prescribed first as it is natural with no side effects.

Finally, don't claim to know me or any of the pain I experience. The question was simple and there is no need for the condescending tone you’re using; if I have pain I should have access to natural medicine just like someone with chronic pain, its only fair.

Most likely California.

In CA you do not need to be terminal...not even close.

Rattlesnake venom and botulism is natural, pasteurization to remove bacteria such as we do with milk is processing. The natural/unnatural aspect of these debates don't do us any good, they do us harm. For those who stay with natural things as a matter of their own free choice that's fine but it's not an argument that helps us with the general public, things aren't necessarily good or bad just for being natural or unnatural.

Yes, they should relax the laws and allow use if Canada is being too restrictive, in California from what I understand it's a lot easier, but that's not an issue of natural or not. It's more one of medical standards and practices.
