Default Elevated heart rate ...

Hey y'all,

Every time I vape, my heart rate jumps up to like 100 BPM. Is this dangerous? Has MJ ever caused anyone have heart problems? My heart is just pounding even though I'm sitting still ...

EVERY SINGLE time you smoke marijuana, your heart rate increases..

Well, since 70 BPM for a sober, resting, healthy person is considered like, "normal"
you should be fine..

and your heart can go waaay faster than 100 BPM so don't worry too much
if you never fainted because of that..
I sometimes panic a bit too because my heart goes really fast
but I don't worry about it a lot and everything is okay.

they found nothing that does real damage to your heart but
everybody reacts differently so if you think or feel it gives you heart problems..
stop?.. smoking?..

Marijuana speeds up the heart and raises blood pressure. Usually when you're high, you will notice your heart beat quite fast and you will get quite paranoid about your health- but every time that happens, just remember that nobody in history has ever died from marijuana You're safe, and that's a normal thing for MJ to do (happens to us all)

Yeah, stopping is not really an option. I'm using it to give me appetite when there is none (I have some cachexia from a Stage IV cancer) and to help me sleep. Currently, I only use it at dinner and bedtime.

On one hand I am pretty sure the reason that MJ elevates heart rate is unknown

On the other hand it is confirmed that MJ has been around since the dawn of time and has never killed anyone.

100 bpm is high if your just sitting, but whenever I exersize i get mine up to like 170, and it will stay there for like an hour. Actually, out of curiosity, I've used a heart rate monitor once when I was high, and it wasn't abnormally high. What it could be is that you think your heart rate is high (when its really not), you get worried (which actually causes it to increase) then you check, and its high. Maybe you can put the monitor on, turn the beeper off (if it has one) and just relax for maybe 30 minutes, and try to forget about it, then check it.

Raising heart rate is a direct effect of the THC. Unless you've got serious heart disease, a 100 bpm rate is not going to hurt you. A brisk walk around the block would have more of an effect. The worst thing about the increase in heart rate is that it scares newbies into thinking that there's something wrong, that they're having a heart attack, that they're dying. It's one of the most common causes of panic attacks.
