| First of all, let me make it clear that I love marijuana and support it's full legalization. I also don't believe that it can really kill anyone. But I've been thinking of ways in which it can indirectly cause a death and would probably be mentioned in a police report if it were to happen. A while back, I had a panic attack while smoking marijuana. What ended up happening was that the doctor told me that marijuana depletes the potassium in your body. I checked online and it seems to be true. So with the potassium running out of my body, my body responded in a full blown panic attack and I had no control over it at all. It was the worst of all panic attacks I've suffered, and believe me, I've suffered quite a few bad ones. So here's where marijuana can indirectly cause (I think): Had I continued smoking, I could have eventually wiped all the potassium out of my system and gone into a respiratory arrest (which happens when your body lacks potassium). That would then, obviously, lead to a death. Again, I can and am probably totally wrong, but it's just a thought that crossed my mind. What do you think? |

| I don't know where you got that information... Pot has nothing to do with your potassium levels.

| Toke up and eat a banana. ![]() ..and on a more serious note, I haven't heard that pot affects potassium levels either. If you got some sources on your information I'd be interested to see them. Take it easy. ![]() |

| Lol I am pretty sure none of that has any basis in reality, you have nothing to worry about. I can't believe an actual doctor told you this.

| Mj often brings out or accentuates that which is already there. If you're prone to anxiety, a little goes a loooong way and actually can be helpful at times. |

| Its certainly possible that pot could deplete potassium, even enough to effect you, and give you a panic attack, but it would certainly not be anything near enough to kill you. If it were possible, it definitely would have happened, and if it happened it would have been documented, and there are no documented deaths from pot. |

| Are you sure when you did that web search that you didn't come across potassium problems for the plants rather than the people? Pot plants are notorious for potassium deficiencies during flowering but offhand I can't think of anything I've read suggesting that it causes problems for humans. Could you have confused the two somehow? I'd love to see what info you came up with, get a look at it for myself.
