Okay, I'm a college student in southern california, and yes I am very interested in getting a medical license. The biggest concern of mine is future employment, and whether or not they can check record of this. Ive read many articles and posts about it, but what I want is proof. Does anyone having a pass want to share their experience, or could someone help me by giving a first hand experience that it doesnt effect your future employment? thanks!

I cant completely help you, but I do know for a fact that if you have a mmj liscense, and you test positive for a work drug test, the employer can still fire you. Also, if you have scholorships for college then you should be careful. I know that a pot charge will fuck you out of a scholorship. Even if you get caught by someone like your floor superviser, and they report you to the university (and not the police) you can still loose your scholorships.

Well back to what you actually asked... I am also a college student. I have my medical marijuana recommendation for chronic back pain from MMEC. As their FAQ says, you are not put on any of these lists that people talk about. The only way you're going to have an issue regarding future employment and/or education is if you do something like the following:

-Get busted selling marijuana
-Get busted for a DUI because of marijuana
-Test positive on a drug test

If you're applying to a job or school, you can usually find out whether or not they'll be requiring a drug test, and you can do something about it in advance. As the poster above me pointed out, the doctor's recommendation does not entitle you to use marijuana when disallowed by an employer. It sucks, but there are so many easy methods around it if you're not getting randomly tested.

I'm in college and I have a medical marijuana card and basically everything that SBBowls said is true. You only get put in a database or some list if you register for a card with your county, and that's completely optional, it only helps more if you get busted.
