| People can have all the thoughts they want on the subject but this isn't a matter of opinion. No, it doesn't cause cancer. Look at the actual studies on the subject and on most you'll find that a Dr Donald Tashkin was the lead scientist on the studies, he was our main researcher for marijuana and lung function research for decades in this nation working out of the UCLA medical center. Others I'm sure can post articles but if you want the truth about lung function from the man himself the following video playlist is worth a watch. You'll have to pay attention though, in some cases he'll describe things that lead to concerns that something could be a risk then point out that later findings proved the concern to be unfounded. It's easy to miss that if you're looking just for the bad. In other cases the concerns are valid. It's not all that dangerous in the scheme of things but not entirely without any risk if abused either. But the risk isn't of cancer, more in the area of bronchitis and such. Donald P. Tashkin

| Marijuana smoke contains the same carcinogenic chemicals you get from smoking any burning plant material. MJ also seems to have fairly powerful anti-cancer properties. Whether or not mj contains more than tobacco is irrelevant for that reason and because most people smoke far less mj than tobacco smokers do tobacco. As noted in this thread, the best research to date shows that smoking mj does not cause cancer and may even protect tobacco smokers to some extent. If you're concerned about carcinogens, it's the burning that creates them. To avoid them consume your cannabis by eating or vaporizing it. |
