I vaped once and had a bad experience so I had to call an ambulace and they checked my BP and it was something like 180/120. After a couple hours when the effects wore off, it was like 110/60. I believe my BP was elevated because I was highly anxious/panicky and/or low blood sugar (symtoms: pale skin, shaking, rapid heart rate).

If I had known about weeds relation to blood SUGAR lowering ability back then, and eaten something before vaping, I probably would not have had such a bad experience. They where probably attributing my symptoms the weed when it was probably due to anxiety and low blood sugar. Normally my BP is good low.

Cool

My B.P. has always been high until here recently. Within the last five years and three doctors, I've seen it go from a regular of 160/120 down to now. Yesterday when I read this thread I took my own pressure and it was 110/72. That's really good for me.

How tall are you dude? How much you weigh? I feel that age isn't a factor because the highest mine ever was was 210/180. I was 22 at the time. (High stress) A normal BP is about 100/70, but that still may be high for some folks. My wife's usually runs 85 over 55 or 60.

Herb can lower my numbers by twenty points on the top and the bottom with a steady diet of two or three joints a day. Now for some people that could be different. Herb has raised the pressure of a few friends, so I'm sure that this is a case of herb doing different things for different people...........

Remember, there are lot's of outside factors that I believe can contribute to high blood pressure, so do a check on those before saying the vaping is doing it...........

well see thats it, i live otherwise extremely healthy, i'm 5'7'' and weigh 140, run every weekday/lift and do not eat many salty foods.

I'm not blaming it on the vape until I see these results, everything else in my life is held constant. Eating the same foods, taking the same vitamins, etc.

day 3:
took it a few more times today, right after i got up it was pretty high, 150/90, but then decreased after about 15 minutes, and its been around 130/70 all day. it seems to max out around 130 now, rather than that being the lowest, it now dips down into the 120's more often than it did before i quit vaping. I'm not going to conclude it was the vaping yet, but my results are pointing towards it, as I have not changed my diet (in fact i've been eating worst) or my fitness routine.

for example, just took it now, 122/67.. last week i would have never seen that number, or if i did it was rare, even if it is the vaping, it's semi reassuring to know that after months of vaping daily, in only 3 days my bp is returning to normal

I'm also a daily vaper, sometimes 2-3 times daily.

Recently when I went to the doctor, my bloodpressure was high (140/80) since then i've been watching it with a cuff, and it chills around 125-140 on a daily basis / 79-90.

I feel that as someone who runs and lifts daily, is only 20 years old, takes no supplements other than vitamins, and has no real risk factors for hypertension (no one in my family has gotten it this young), my bp should be at MAXIMUM around 130/85, and be usually around 110-125/70-80. the only thing that may be the cause is the vaping? I know marijuana usually lowers bp, and i've seen this, after vaping my diastolic lowers to the upper 70's. But, maybe I've been smoking too much? I know that when I get high, regardless of how much I smoke, i usually am the "high one." I still get really giggly and hyper, I don't know if this has anything to do with it but i'm just throwing it hout there.

Anyone know if this could possibly be the cause? I"m going to abstain for a while and see how it turns out, but does anyone know? And how long should I abstain for to get an accurate conclusion?
What your SODIUM intake - it may not seem like that big of a deal but it is - a lot of people eat things like lunchables [turkey + crackers for example) or give them to their kids, these have like 800-1100 MG of sodium in there (turkey and crackers lunchables have 1140 MG for just ONE SERVING), your not supposed to get more than around 1500-2400 MG a day - - frozen dinners dish out around 700-1200 MG a serving too when this is just for ONE meal out of at least 3 a day- just watch your sodium, from what i hear alcoholic drinks may raise your Blood pressure by a few points each - in fact - TYPE IN ">name of food hear< nutrition" into google for each food you eat - HOT DOGS have a lot of sodium in them and i feel bad for anyone involved in a hot dog eating contest - thats so unheathly...

your body will always attempt (if your healthy) to excrete excess sodium out via urination but that doesnt mean it always can, especially if your eating a high sodium diet and its simply to much there (nor does it mean drinking extra water will lower blood pressure, in fact this can even RAISE it - at least temporarily.)

Hypertension is caused when too much fluid is retained by the body (sodium = water retention) making the heart work harder to pump it all through. There are many reasons why the body may retain excess fluid. Consuming too much salt is one. Failing kidneys is another.

Hypertension can be classified as either essential (primary) or secondary. Essential or primary hypertension means that no medical cause can be found to explain the raised blood pressure. It is common. About 90-95% of hypertension is essential hypertension. Secondary hypertension indicates that the high blood pressure is a result of (i.e., secondary to) another condition, such as kidney disease or tumours (adrenal adenoma or pheochromocytoma).

Our blood pressure is constantly changing – increasing with exercise, excitement and stress; decreasing with rest and relaxation. When blood pressure increases, the small blood vessels that branch off from the arteries become constricted, making it more difficult for blood to pass through them (just like a kinked garden hose, the water flow is decreased) and causes the pressure against the artery walls to increase. This causes the heart to pump harder and over time the effects can be extremely harmful.

Symptoms

Hypertension has no noticeable symptoms and can develop over many years as it silently and painlessly damages tissues and blood vessels. Once warning signs occur, the disease is usually severely advanced:

* Nose bleeds
* Headaches
Buzzing in the ears
* Dizziness
Anxiety
* Excessive perspiration
* Confusion
* Nausea, vomiting
* Loss of vision
* Tiredness
* Chest pain
* Muscle tremors
* Racing or irregular heartbeats

NOTE: Even if you do not have any symptoms,
you still may have hypertension.

thank you for the info, but like i said i do not eat much sodium, i cook at home myself and watch my sodium intake. i've always been a careful eater. also, like i said, everything else in my life is held constant right now. I am eating nothing out of the ordinary, i have the same stresses, setbacks, etc. And so far, day 3 of abstaining has had my blood pressure lowered on average. The ONLY thing i have done right now is stop vaping. I know marijuana dialates the blood vessels and lowers bp in some, but i don't know what else to say, my body apparently reacts differently (we'll see). I will not be thoroughly convinced until my bp reaches 120/80 as an average ( i know that bp changes throughout the day, even from second to second).

I'm not blaming it on the vaping blindly, i'm watching the bp drop as i refrain. Believe me, it sucks, i love vaping. But I need to see if it is really the cause of this higher blood pressure.

day 4

BP usually in the 120's/70's, systolic has not dipped below 120 yet tho once.

Occasionally systolic hits low 130's and diastolic raises above 80 but only when first waking up or if i take my bp immediately without waiting a minute or two to settle down.

At this point, i'm not too sure if its my stress or the vaping. I have been managing my stress better after finding out about my elevated bp. I'm going to still refrain from vaping until my systolic dips below 120 for a few days. Then I will vape and monitor again.
