I was just wondering is it possible for you to actually have the ever so feared heart attack when you are having an anxiety high. Cause everyone seems to be afraid of heart attacks when they are having an anxiety attack and I was just wondering if a really fast heartbeat can actually trigger some sort of heart condition.

Unless your ticker is already in a very unhealthy state neither the rapid heartbeat nor the emotional distress would precipitate a heart attack. If you're on the verge of a heart attack because you have advanced cardiac disease then either might tip you over the edge.

If I ever have a heart attack I hope I'm stoned when it happens so I can really enjoy it!

Default Panic the day after

Hi,

What about my story?

I went to a rock festival. Tried some hasch for the fist time ever on saturday. Never even tried weed before. When I was awfully drunk on sundaynight I did one zip from a haschjoint.

When I came home to my quiet home I had a panicattack at 16.00 on monday afternoon. Now I believe that I am messed up for all futere having continuously panicattacks. Is my mentalhealth destroyed for all time ahead? Was it the hasch that made me this way. Could it be that my liver first cleaned out the alcohol and that I had a bad trip on 16.00 the day after?

Regards

Mathew

I can safely say that your insignificant consumption of cannabis had nothing to do with your panic attack. The fact that you're carrying around the idea that one toke on a joint could destroy your mental health for all time indicates the source. You've listened to so much anti-marijuana propaganda that you actually believe it. Also, the fact that you never tried marijuana until you were 34 years old indicates that you're scared of it.

Cannabis is one of the most benign substances known to man. It's less toxic than water. Believing that it might do bad things to you, inspired by clueless prohibitionists, is what brought on your panic attack.

I recently had the one of these "panic attacks".. it was the worst experiance I have ever had. I couldn't feel my body, everything was in slow motion, it was a whole new reality.. something happened to me that I never ever imagined smoking weed could do, i wanted to die so badly..
Though i did shiver and twitch constantly, and was frightenend to death, It doesnt seem suiting to call it a "panic attack".. this misleads people to thinking it was just me being scared for no reason.. the reason i panicked so badly is because everything was so ****ED and there was nothing i could do about it.. when people say just calm down it doenst make sense, u wont understand until it happens to you

The physical manifestations, other than a rapid heartbeat, are purely psychosomatic; they are not direct effects of consuming cannabis. They are caused by your mental state. They scare you, you focus on them, they seem to intensify, and you've got a panic attack that keeps feeding itself. The shiver and twitch are a direct result of you dumping a lot of adrenaline into your system because you're scared and your body is preparing itself to fight for its life or run away.

Default Youre the man Buzzby!

I was feeling in a very good mood the other night and I wanted to replace my bad experience to a better, more realistic one. When I was home with my girlfriend I got out on the terrace and did one zip on a marijuana joint. I was quite nervous but determined to go throuht it. I went back in talking positivly to my girlfriend and then she asked me if I wanted to see her new homepage. I was very interested and I had a lot of creative inputs. Suddenly I was smiling constantly. After ca 30 minutes I felt sober and I really wanted to try some more so I took two more zips and I was back again. Now a few days later I have a new experience and I am not panicking when I am thinking of bad trips, paranoya, panickattacks etc.

I have looked my fears in the eyes, and realized that it was fantasies that made the panicreactions, not the real situation.

Funny that I first thought that my way to feeling better was to punish myself and not ever again doing drugs, when the best cognitive medicin was to do the opposite.

Thank you all in this thread

Mind my english cause I am from Sweden.

I was completley relaxed smoked again... THe high was great and i was fine but my heart was beating so irregular fast and random for about 30 mins... This happens everytime... Im not getting a panic attack or anything... Im completely calm yet i get the most IRREGULAR heart rate ever... its like super weak pusling irregularly and fast.... :/ Its like whenever i smoke for some reason my heart gets really ridiculously outta control... I can take like 50% my speed if its beating normall like when u work out... Theres a clear difference between it beating fast when u work out... and SUPER faster with irregular beats afer i smoke... ;(
