What is the medical reason for getting bloodshot eyes after smoking marijuana, will i get bloodshot eyes if i eat it?

I don't know all the scientific terms and junk, but pot changes the pressure in your eyes, which is why it helps people with glaucoma, and I'm pretty sure that is what also causes the bloodshot eyes.

So I would assume that when eaten, the same effect would occur.

I also am not 100% sure about this, but here is what I’ve heard.
Yes marijuana does reduce eye pressure, which is why it is useful for people with glaucoma. I think the reason your eyes turn red is because you have an increased blood flow to your eyes. The redness is actually small burst blood vessels in your eyes.
Smoking delivers cannibiniods much faster to your bloodstream than eating it. My guess would be that you may get some red eye, but not as much as from smoking it.

Its not that the vessels burst (I think they're actually capillaries) its that the reduced pressure behind the eyes cause the capillaries to dialate, increasing bloodflow and causing the capillaries to be more visible.

Visine works becuase it causes the vessels/capillaries to constrict to normal sizes.

Bingo. Marijuana is a vasodilator. The capillaries in your eyes simply get bigger and more visible.

Eating it has the same effect, just a different administration/distribution route.
