Hey dudes, Am wondering if anyone has tried to stop smoking pot after many years? Personally, i've been smoking weed daily for the past 15 years, mostly to help me sleep at night as i'm a chronic(no pun intended) insomniac. Recently, i just got married and decided to quit and start afresh. However, after a week or so, i started having nasty headaches and bouts of giddiness. Are these withdrawal symptons? Would greatly appreaciate any advice on this matter. Thank You.

| First, what do you mean by bouts of giddyness? Do you mean all of the sudden you just got hyper? Did your headaches start immediatly after you stopped smoking? Have you been sleeping well since you got married? Your headaches and bouts of hyperactivness can mean anything. If the headaches are related to your quiting, then it might be because your brain cells are again getting used to not being altered by THC. If your headaches persist for more than 2 weeks, I'd say go to a doctor to see what the problem is. I have smoked daily and sometimes if i stop for a week or so, Ill get a little headache, but after either starting up again smoking or just giving it more time, the headaches usually stop. Is it a sort of withdrawel, maybe, but it could be due more to the other chemicals in weed than THC. I wouldnt worry about it, whatever it is it should stop.

Hi SS, Thanks for advice. was quite bad last week but seem to be getting better. was experiencing neusea and cold sweats. sudden movements caused the giddyness. tried some aroma-theraphy at bed-time and that seemed to help. will see how it goes in the next week or so. want to really make an effort to quit this time. want to only puff few times a year now amd not everyday. cheers.

If your still getting the headaches, try eating the other product of marijuana, hemp seed. Hemp seed or flax seed will help your brain balance out its chemicals, it will also help your body in many other ways. You can buy flax seed meal in most grocery stores. It tastes great when you put it in ice cream, its got a good nutty flavor. When you eat it your body gets a rush of energy, its a good feeling.

I've been smoking weed pretty much all day, everyday & evening for around 8 yrs. I'm one of those stoners that everyone assumed would always be that way and only really discussed weed-related issues to ya' coz they think you might not know about much else!!! I have recently had to carry out some temporary volutary work as part of an educational course I'm trying to persue. Unfortunately, this work involves me staying away from my smoking comunity (!) and the timing is terrible because I am doing unpaid work...pennyless! I do not have any choice at all but to completely stop - from fulltime stoner to pure normality overnight! It's been only four days, but also four days of erratic moods, desire to taste some green, particularly when it comes to wanting to sleep at night! and COMPLETE boredom!!! However, I have never done this and although I've never really attepted to give up before, there had always been SOMETHING inside that kind of wanted to give things a break but I kept thinking it would be impossible. Don't know if anyone has found that they have lost their appetite a little? Amythist (F)
