Hi there, i've decided to past this in 2 different places because it relates to both. I'm not trying to say this in an offensive way but i'm a young teenage girl and have never (or ever wanted to) smoke marijuana because of all the bad things i have been told about it.

In class at my school i am doing a debate: "should marijuana become a legalized prescription drug?". I need ot find out the side effects (please some positive ones to ) and why it would be good to use it for medicinal reasons. Also what are all the different names for it.

Wow, are you going to get a speech.

Anyway, all those "BAD" things you've heard about it: they are all just spread by the government to make it look worse than it is.

Let me guess, you think it is addictive right? Wrong. It is only addictive on a phycological level. Even then, only a very small percentage, very small, ever becomes phycologically addicted to it. In fact, the people that do become phycologically addicted to it are so unsure and everyone is so unsure that they are addicted to it that marijuana addiction in any way, shape, or form is just a theory.

Also, a while back, a long while back, there were rumors spread by the government about something called "Cannibis induced phycosis". That is where you go crazy from smoking marijuana.

It also happens that it is just a theory. Many cases of it have been claimed but none of them have been proven. In mnost cases it is put off as the person being mentally unstable in the first place.

Also, there is the whole how it hurts your lungs issue. First off, smoking marijuana is not needed. You can eat it too you know. Also, recently there has been a new devised way of using marijuana. It is called vaporizing. Vaporizing is where you heat the marijuana to the point where all of the THC, the main ingredient iin marijuana, is turned into a vapor and then inhaled.

Vaporizing and eatting are both ways that marijuana will not cause damage to your body like smoking will.

Then of course there is how it causes bad driving skills and the such. Well, a study was held not too long ago that suggests that people heavily under the innfluence of marijuana are safer drivers than those at the maximum legal blood alcohol limit for driving.

That of course means we will allow people more dangerous on the road rather than let stoned people drive, or even allowed to be stoned.

There was a drug called Marinol released a few years ago. It has two canniboids, what marijuana is made of, in it that are made synthetically. This pill was a total failure. It was found that it has almost not effect at all, especially compared to real marijuana.

Why is that? Because the pill only contained two of the 14-16 canniboids contained within the marijuana plant.

Then there is the "Theory" that marijuana kills brain cells. Well a new study suggests that marijuana might actually have the oppisite effect. That instead of killing brain cells it coats them in canniboids protecting them from harm and death.

Then there is the idea that the canniboids contained within marijuana could be harmful. Well, actually, the canniboids contianed within marijuana are all natrully produced by the human body. In other words we all have what marijuana is inside of us always.

That would mean that our own body is trying to harm us. Either way, no. Marijuana is no where near as harmful as it is said to be.

All of those anti-marijuana commercials are just there to scare you out of trying it. Then there is the government's statements that marijuana has no medicinal value. That is the government's reason for putting it on schedule one of the drug policy along with LSD.

In actuallity marijuana has been proven by many studies, and thousands of people, to be a wonderful cure/thing to help with many problems of the medical nature.

It has been proven to make people eat. In this way it could be helped to treat anorexia and people on KEMO. It has been proven to be a wonderful pain killer. In fact, the reason there are so many pain pills is because each one has only a 20-25 percent chance that it will work on you.

I myself am immune to almost all pain killers. So marijuana is the only thing I have found that has been able to cure the pain in my jaw caused by my DJS. DJS is Degenerative Jaw Syndrome. It is where because of the way you have been chewing for many years the cartilage in your jaw gets slowly ripped apart. To say the least, it is agonizing. It has prevented me from sleeping many a night.

That is why I smoke marijuana. It takes away the pain that can not be cured by anything else and helps me sleep.

Then of course there is what the government tells us. "We make marijuana illegal for the adults to keep it away from the kids."

Well that is a bunch of bull to say the least. In fact, by legalizing it and putting restrictions on it we could make it hundreds of times harded for kids to get their hands on it. Right now if you ask any kid he will tell you it is easier to get marijuana than it is to get alcohol or tobacco.

That is because drug dealers will make money off of whoever they sell to so they will sell it to everybody regardless of their age. Making it legal the kid would have to go through an adult to get it, most of whcih would not buy it for them because it would be illegal for them to give it to kids just like it is with alcohol and tobacco.

Also, the sterio-type of stoners is a lazy, often unemployed, person with no life and no hopes or dreams. That is 99.9999999999% untrue. Talk to anyone here. Almost none of them are like that. The ones that are would still be that way even if they didn't do pot and that is true with every single stoner.

To give you an idea...

I smoke pot. I smoke a lot of pot infact. I have an I.Q. of 147. I am an honor role student. I will be starting a great job within the month. I have plans to go to college, a good college. I also have a deep interest in everything that has to do with physics. I actually stumped my own physics teacher with one of my theories.

II know many people that smoke pot and almost all of them are wonderful people. They all have jobs and families and lives. They don't spend every waking hour trying to get high, they use it responsibly.

There is more I am just tired and don't want to type it. Either way, for names there aren't as many as you'd think.
